Star Citizen, The Biggest Crowdfunded Project in History - Gamescom 2017 + Extra Information

Hello Steemit! I'm super hyped about this game, and I strongly recommend that you get to know about the project, even if space games are not your thing!

This game is groundbreaking in many ways, lets start with the hype, I'm not the only one who are looking forward to this game, almost 2 million people have backed this game, with their own money.

This is the biggest crowdfunded project in history, not only for crowdfunded games, but in crowdfunding overall, all projects included, with 156 million dollar this far, and still going strongly.

Every dollar donated is going to the game, that's a big different compared to other big games, who are made by big companies who often are looking for a safe money investment. This is the total opposite to that, Christ Roberts are the one in charge here, he is a game developer, and he is known for putting in everything he got into the games, a bit too much some say. Some people think that this project will fail because he is aiming too high!

Keep in mind that I'm a fan of this project, and it's no guarantee that this will be a good game, or be finished at all, it's a lot of splitted oppinions out there, but this is my take on this :)

The world in this game is insanly big, you will be able to fly anywhere in space, fly to "Full Size!" planets, land on them, do whatever you want on them and then fly into space again, without any loading times, both in singleplayer and multiplayer.

Warp to other star systems, with many new planets, moons and other things to explore, alone or with your friends. This game world will be over 1 million times bigger than anything you are used to. And with groundbreaking graphics and dedication into every single detail you can imagine, and of course the sound and music too! I have not missed that part ^^

This game is still in early alpha, it will take long time before it will be finished, but you can already play it now.
You will need a very good computer to enjoy it, just a warning! My own computer is way too weak, so for me, it's look, but no touch :((

I don't exactly know what they will show on this live event, but we got a hint that they will show the 3.0 version, that will open up planets and moons.

Hopefully I have got your interest up a little bit, let's enjoy the big live show now! :D

If my memory is correct, it's not unusual that the show get's delayed a little bit before they start, so I have prepared with a little bit of insurance, I have made a Star Citizen Music Mix trailer, with concept art slideshow that you can enjoy while you wait, and I have also collected two really good videos for you to get into what Star Citizen is. Enjoy :)

My Star Citizen Trailer:

Check this out for eye candy and new tech. (keep in mind, this video is showing in game graphics, this is not a pre rendered tech demo)

And check this out to understand a bit of it :)

I will update this post with accurate time for when the event begins!
I will also update this post after the event, with the recorded video from the event. So even if you are late, you will not miss anything :)

I caved and bought in! I hope 3.0 comes out soon and is everything they say it will be.

Having so much trouble with my little mustang but its sooooo much fun.

I'm glad that you are enjoying the game with your little mustang! I'm a bit gelly to be honest, my computer can't run star citizen, one little mustang would also be fun for me, hehe :D But I'm happy to wait, more time for me to put into mixing :)

I think it's good that they are waiting a bit with the 3.0 release, so the game run as good as possible. A lot of new poeple are gonna try Star Citizen when 3.0 comes out, so it's important to hook them on! instead of scaring them away. I got my hopes up that 3.0 will be as they say it will be.

yes i've read about this geme

This game in full implementation would be incredible. I have it and play it from time to time. an 8000 level amd processor and 1060 OC-1080ti can handle it. (its what I use) I sometimes use my 1060 6GB at 110% power or so.

I do have a suspicion that the game will never actually be done and they'll just keep shilling with ads and marketing to maintain the jobs they are now dependent on lol. I felt a little mislead at my time of purchase with regards to what was available in-game.

I love the depth of controls, the maneuverability in space, and the key logging. I really wanted a realistic space/atmospheric flight sim, and I got extra with ExtraVehicularActivities.

I think one shitty/humorous aspect of destroying your ship in Star Citizen is that you can pay the in-game insurance company to get your ship faster hahaha I play games to escape that real life stuff, but still it tickles me so, lol.

Lastly, I think it is really cool to compare the two philosophical extremes of the imperialistic, pay-for-content Star Citizen vs. the Pay-once (for the game), the universe is owned by everyone and no one, freedom/liberty oriented No Man's Sky.

Now with new updates, and surely more to come, No Man's Sky is a really chill game with low consequences.

Awesome piece of GameDev, but so slow / heavy at the moment. Mid range GPU like 1050 Ti can't play this game smoothly.

Really looking forward to the release of this, or even just venturing into this game. I have been watching this for years, and I like how it's going.

Also, just wanted to say, thanks for liking one of my DJ mixes "Draichill" on Dsound. Best wishes. Keep up the quality content!
