2017/18 EPL Prediction 1/2

in #football7 years ago

So, did you manage to figure it out?

The upcoming big event?

Well it didn't require a Fred Jones level of deduction skills to know that I was referring to the upcoming Premier League season, which, thanks to Sky TV, will contain the most expensively assembelled squads in history.

As the excitement or cynicism builds, depending on whether or not you believe history started in 1992, I will be sharing a number of predictions with you. The first of which is which team, from the depths of my heart, I believe will lift that hideous yet magnificent and elusive trophy come Sunday 13th May 2018.

Relegation Fodders

Like most things, it's best to start from the bottom up - so here are the three teams whose fans will be shedding bucket loads of tears in 9mths time.

20-Brighton: Will struggle in their first season in the top division since '82/'83 - this is not based on some rational assessment as I have not seen them play before, but based on the cold realties that they will be competing in a league where a 7 goals a season striker (Marko Arnautovic) costs £20m.

19-Huddersfield: They may have a Klopp lite manager but they do not have a Liverpool lite team. A team that barely escaped from division 2 will make all flat track bullies drool at the prospect of lining up against them.

18-Swansea: Another team with a good up and coming manager, but escaping the dreaded trap door does not always lead to a Leicester like resurrection the following season. It should be seen as a warning to fundamentally upgrade your squad, tactics, training regime etc. not taking heed of this warning will see you in yet another relegation dog fight.

That's the bottom three taken care of, congratulations if your team did not make this list. Will they make the top list? find out in part two.
