Cruelty Free doesn't have to be hard- or expensive. Here are Vegan Tuna Sammies made just for me:
Ingredients:
Ciabatta-$1
Jackfruit-$1 | (bought 2 cans for $0.50/ea)
Vegan Mayo-$4
Seasonings-FREE | (you might need to buy dill, at a co-op can cost you less than $1...)
Tomato (1)- $0.89
Juice of 1 Lemon-$0.30 | (3/$1 lemons have the most juice typically)
Bean Sprouts- $2
- Cut the "shoe" bread in thirds, then down the middle lengthwise, or vice versa. Toast to desired color.
- Drain jack fruit, pat dry. Season with lemon juice, a pinch of salt, pepper, garlic, dill, and onion powder to taste. Paprika optional to taste. Mix well.
- Dice or slice tomato and roughly chop bean sprouts (optional)
- Stir vegan mayo/ vegan yogurt/ garlic hummus in LAST.
- Top the bread w/ jack fruit mixture, add tomatoes and bean sprouts.
- Take pics and DIG IN!!
We had the vegan mayo in the fridge from our last few sammies and other recipes, so all in all this meal cost les than $6 and made about 3 sammies. We had half a tomato and some bean sprouts leftover too, so that's always a plus.
Double the recipe and feed the whole family for less than $15!!
I can't say I've ever eaten this before, it looks delicious

Yoo, it is sooo delicious, you gotta try it if you like tuna a little. it's not as fishy, but so tasty. If not, you can make pulled jackfruit w/ bbq sauce, try baking it for a bit, mmm!
