No-Take-Out November. Not a big deal, right?
I'm constantly cooking from scratch and many of my ingredients come from my own back yard. Easy peasy! ;)
Except that my Dad leaves SUPER early each morning and doesn't always eat breakfast from home. His early morning McDonald's oatmeal is complicating my attempt to feed us from home the ENTIRE month of November! We are clearly in need of a homemade replacement!
Early this morning, I boiled water. ;) After a pat of butter, I added dried cranberries, raisins, chopped apricots, molasses, a bit of milk, and old fashioned oats. (Sorry I can't share measurements... I rarely measure anything...) To top them off, I chopped up some of the pecans my daughter and I have been foraging for.
To mine, I've added raw pumpkins seeds and a dot of honey. Oatmeal is extremely versatile and doesn't have to be boring!
Dad agrees that these beautiful bowls will more than satisfy his early morning fiber fix. I made enough to munch the next two mornings too!
What do YOU do on busy mornings to ensure your family eats well from home?
