La 88 restaurant is another great restaurant in the north end of Playa. This little family-owned restaurant/hotel is close to where I live and I have had several awesome meals here thus far. The Manager Christian is a super nice guy, chatted us up and gave us a few shots of Tequila on the house. We had lots of great laughs and he told how he got started back in 2003 and how his clients mean everything to him. He really has a beautiful spot with a great location. My friends and family have tried the garlic and chipotle shrimp dinners, tortilla soup and the new clubhouse sandwich which were all excellent choices and the coconut shrimp is to die for. Also had an excellent breakfast omelette with freshly squeezed OJ and the fresh ground coffee is amazing as well. I really like this place and the open air concept is great with a nice breeze coming off the ocean. Great vibe overall. La 88 is located on the corner on 5th Ave N and 88th St N. Right across the street from The Paradisus La Perla Resort. You also have a brick path that leads to the beach right across the street from the restaurant. This is a beautiful spot to come for lunch or cold beers if you are having a beach day. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to get away from the hustle bustle of the city and just relax and unwind.
