Steemit is a large social platform field with all sort of articles and posts from the community bloggers.
To get followers on steemit, you don't need to ask for a follow up. All you need to do is post articles with good content to the community and when people see that, they will start following you for your subsequent good posts.
I remember when I came to Steemit for the first time without a single follower, I was deceived to share a post on "follow for follow". It still didn't fetch me any better followers but when I started to write good articles, commenting posts, upvoting good messages and resteeming good message, I started accumulating the followers without asking them for a follow.
I personally don't agree to "follow for follow" and I believe you also don't.
