Fair - 50 Word Short Story Prompt

in #fiction7 years ago (edited)

Fair

Vegetables gathered. Livestock groomed. Pickles made; sweet and dill. Crowds. Rides. Elephant ears and monkey tails. Cheese curds. Barkers; prizes won. Blue ribbons, red ribbons, white ribbons distributed. Proud moms and dads. Packing up and driving home.

"Did everyone have a good time?" asks Dad.

"Yes!" declared the family, smiling.

That's a challenge to write such a short story and have it describe what's going on. But you did it! The photo works with it too. Great job!

Thank you!

Great job! I love the fast cadence of the descriptive phrases. That's often how it feels at the fair. A smorgasbord of attractions rushing around you. And then that contrast of the car doors closing and the peaceful drive home with exhausted happy travelers.

Thanks! You're exactly right!
