You would think this would be awesome news for Bitcoin and really move the crypto markets...welcome to 2018.

Chinese Courts have ruled essentially that Bitcoin (other cryptos) are not “illegal” to own and merchants can accept crypto.

At the same time, crypto does not have “the same rights as cash”. I can’t figure that one out.

I think this may be the issue of the Chinese Government having the final say as opposed to a lower court.

Essentially, Bitcoin/cryptos are ruled as a “property/commodity” not money.

Is it legal to hold property or commodity in China? Yes. Can you barter or trade with property? Yes.

I think this is a step in a positive direction for now.

Sort:

Maybe they learn that banning it would benefit other countries as the investment would move elsewhere. Maybe this can restart the bull market, big population with money is what we need

I think you are spot on. That is what happened with Binance. They moved from China, Singapore to Malta. They will lose talent.

This time last year China banned BTC and now the tide is turning but the price is stagnant. Can not wait for the bull market.

All the big money is trading OTC market ...not on the exchanges. It’s great news and yet prices drop. Go figure.

That's good and simple dude

This is the beginning of people going back on their word. Saying it’s crap and realizing it’s not lol

My goodness. The number of people and companies that said “xxx” against Bitcoin and now they are finishing infrastructure plans. Crazy.

Yes I would say big news for the Communists to decide this for now.

I think so as well. We shall see soon.
