The first on-chain eSport
It was not long since I found God's Unchained at www.stateofthedapps.com. Since I recently started playing Heartstone and is very interested in crypto, God's Unchained feels like something that would be "fun to test" for me.
For those who do not know what God's Unchained is, I will link a random guy from youtube that talks about the game for you right here.
Everything that makes it easier for me to learn others what crypto is usually catch my interest but there are actually several things here that would be worth taking up. And I'll be able to explain at the outset that I did not test the game or can be said to know much about it.
This certainly concludes that I wrote about a ponzi game that I have too much hopes for. But something tells me that if crypto can compete with fiat, God's Unchained can compete with Heartstone.
Blizzard, the creators behind Heartstone have a really big crowd of fans who love their works and I think it's very hard to get rid of them. Instead, I think if there is any way to attract their players and fans through a more economically advantageous e-sports game.
Not just because I love God's Unchained so much, but rather to introduce the blockchain and crypto to millions of young people.
Let me also explain that I'm not writing this because I'm knowledgeable in the field. I'm only interested and would like to raise a discussion about the game itself and in relation to the crypto market. Maybe there are some who have played the game and can explain to me in the comment field what you like about the game and maybe compare it a little with Hearstone?
God's Unchained has about 2047 active users in the month and employs around 4220 ethereum. Maybe there is nothing to boast about, but if I like a project, I want to see it work under pressure.
Where is the press for God's Unchained? The fact that the whole game is on the blockchain certainly has both its pros and cons and yes it's hard to compare it with Heartstone just because of these vital differences.
But let's break it down that you first of all have to buy your own cards. If I understand correctly, they will release a free pack of cards that you will not be able to exchange.
I have picked up 3 important questions from their FAQ that I thought might be important to address.
1 What value does the blockchain bring to Gods Unchained?
"Absolutely! Although all the cards are stored on Ethereum, players will only interact on the network when they want to purchase new cards or transfer their existing ones. All other events in the game will run using industry standard technologies like Unity, allowing gameplay to be indistinguishable from other games that don’t employ distributed ledgers, while permitting a huge user base without noticeably weighing down Ethereum’s network. It’s kinda awesome (but we’re biased)."
2 Is this pay-to-win?
"Although it’s true that some cards will be prohibitively more expensive than others, we are balancing the game so you don’t need to spend lots of money to have a highly competitive deck. Because cards are tradable, it’s also possible to purchase only what you need from other players to build your dream deck. Compare this to other digital trading card games where you’re required to open hundreds of packs just to find that one card to complete your meta. We also have hundreds of cards available for free in our core set, and a weekly rotation of cards to try out! Finally, you can always sell your cards if you decide to switch metas or even (dare I say) quit. The choice is yours."
3 Is Ethereum currently capable of handling a game this size?
"Absolutely! Although all the cards are stored on Ethereum, players will only interact on the network when they want to purchase new cards or transfer their existing ones. All other events in the game will run using industry standard technologies like Unity, allowing gameplay to be indistinguishable from other games that don’t employ distributed ledgers, while permitting a huge user base without noticeably weighing down Ethereum’s network. It’s kinda awesome (but we’re biased)."
If you have purchased a package in God's Unchained, very into or interested, please feel free to comment and share what you know or like about the game. I have not decided myself if this is something I'm going to get into. I invested a bit in cryptokitties before, but it was a total damn disappointment. So I'm a bit more careful about what I spend my ether on.
