RE: Killing the Rainforest, Are the U.S. and China in this together?

Even during Christmas everyone gets together to worship around a cut tree. Why is it not a tree with roots that we worship? Just a thought.

Actually, this is one of the most sustainable agriculture cycles we have.
Almost all of the christmas trees are grown to be cut down for christmas trees, and only for christmas trees.

Most christmas trees are not good trees for the area. So, planting it after using it in your living room is not the best for the tree or the local environment.

You could get rid of this practice, but in the same breath you are also getting rid of this niche enterprise.
Many, many little tree farms will be gone and the families they supported.

Cheap furniture is a problem.

But let me tell you, to make a quality piece of furniture, my cost starts at the price you pay at Ikea.
Buying just the lumber for that bookcase costs as much or more than buying a complete, finished one from Ikea.

So, to get quality furniture, you need to pay at least double. And at that, i am working for lower wages than McDs.

The other problem is that Ikea furniture often uses all the wood bits that wouldn't be used for anything else.
A real tree is a tall tapered thing.
A board for a bookcase is rectangular.
The difference between these two is waste.

Of course, Ikea makes soooo much that they have to use more than just the waste.

Planned harvesting of forests is actually one of the best things to do.
It minimizes forest fires. It minimizes dead wood / diseased trees.
It rejuvenates the undergrowth.

The destructive foresting that you hate happens for only one reason.

Govern-cements.

Govern-cements limit foresting, and so shift the production of wood to other areas.
Govern-cements are why the rain forests are being cut down. Its all but impossible to not do it.
Central banks have been actively working to destroy small countries and their forests for centuries.

The places where you see all the forest cut down is ONLY where the govern-cement leased some forested land for foresting. Its not your land, and you have only a little while to harvest everything you can. You are paying buy the day for it. Leaving trees is not only costs you in lost revenue, but also costs you in making each subsequent tree harder to cut, and that costs more time...

So, i commend you for thinking about the problem. But think about solutions to the actual situation.
