The money will come with the declaration of a state of emergency, as reported by US media. Trump is expected to formalize the figure in a speech scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
US President Donald Trump announced today a package of 8,000 million dollars for the construction of the border wall with Mexico that will be obtained with the declaration of a state of emergency and executive orders, according to US media.
The White House already announced on Thursday that Trump would adopt executive measures to obtain the funds that Congress has denied him for the border work.
Sources of the White House have indicated that of the package of 8,000 million dollars, 3.500 million will be fruit of the state of emergency and the funds will leave the budget for military works of the Pentagon.
Another 2,500 million will come from already approved funds for a seizure program of narcotics also from the Pentagon.
The Treasury Department will have to contribute 600 million dollars more with its drug seizure fund.
The remaining $ 1.375 million are the ones that Trump did manage to wrest from Congress in the recent budget negotiations.
Trump must ratify today said budget, approved on Thursday by both houses, to avoid a new partial administrative closure from next midnight.
Despite appeals from conservative sectors to get the bills out, the White House announced that the president would ratify them along with the remaining unofficial measures to raise funds for the wall.
Trump is expected to formalize the figure and detail the package in a speech at the White House scheduled for 10:00 local time.
