Fragmented wood (without burning it first) is an excellent mean to restore soil. There are many video in French on the topic in Youtube

Thanks for that! I don't speak french so I couldn't understand the video... but I definitely agree about mimicking the forest and natural ecosystems :) If there is a better use for the wood than biochar, by all means use it for that first!
