Au-delà des coûts évidents de l'économie, la violence éloigne l'investissement direct étranger et décourage l'attraction des talents.
La semaine dernière, le Conseil des citoyens pour la sécurité publique et la justice pénale (ONG mexicaine) a publié son huitième classement avec les 50 villes les plus violentes au monde. Ils le font avec l'objectif politique manifeste d'attirer l'attention sur la violence, en particulier en Amérique latine, afin que les dirigeants soient sous pression pour s'acquitter de leur devoir de protéger les citoyens et de garantir leur droit à la sécurité publique. N'oublions pas que la principale cause qui empêche la réduction de la violence en Amérique latine est l'impunité.
