The planning fallacy is a phenomenon in which predictions about how much time will be needed to complete a future task display an optimism bias and underestimate the time needed. I discuss how this relates to New Year's resolutions. I also talk about Russell Brand's new years resolutions and his call to use a mentor to achieve your goals.
