We've Finally Got the Potatoes In

I have my boys to thank. Little Kiedis and Stryder helped me weed this crazy patch and turn it into a garden ready for taters. They are all planted and mounded up now.

As you can see around the potato patch I have a lot more work to do yet. I decided just to take it super easy and only weed one row a day. My energy levels have been atrocious since the winter, however I am continuing to weed and plant each day and slowly but surely things are getting done.

Hey there. Wow, so pleasant to see my homeland. So glad you are out there giving it your all and thank god for the boys. I am bushed, and running on some kind of steem borrowed from another era. I have to force myself now to keep going. It is coming and thank god for everyone and anyone who has lent a hand. This is bigger than big. I love that you already had a salad, I feel somewhat Jealous. My yard must be a mess and a half, but oh well. Where did the new kiddies come from.? Now if only you could send me some ocean air. much love you xx

I'm glad you are getting lots done and are getting lots of help too~ Hope you didn't work too hard on your birthday and ate lots of cake!

The kiddos are from the school, we meet up at the church to play on Sunday afternoons! xo We've done it the last 3 weeks <3 <3

Thats so nice, very cute and such a nice way for them to spend the afternoon. Rather than malls and things. That is how we used to play as kids. We are getting lots done, but it seems never ending. I am just so tired. Ya I took one day off. But we are going to celebrate the Atlantic way when we get back. xx

Right on, can't wait til you're back!! xoxoxox

ahhh me too. although I must admit the countryside here is nice and tranquil, but now that ocean has taken a piece of my soul. there is not choice. xx

I can't recommend salt hay enough for garden mulch to suppress weeds and keep slugs off. As you have a similar climate to us, I figure it's just littering the beach for free. Of course I dont' have too far to walk to harvest the stuff after a good high tide, like we had today!

Looks like fun around your homestead as usual. Have you come up with a name for your home yet?

Salt hay... = Seaweed? HAHAA look at you always teaching me new terms...I still remember my Wellies!!

No, still no name for our home yet, I'm warming up though naming other people's homes lolol!!

Yes, its like that really long haylike brown grass/weed that collects up in big mounds on the beach, I think I've seen it in your beach photos, the puritans called it 'salt hay' so we new englanders still do. Just get armload fulls. It's great mulch as it keeps it moist and when it breaks down makes great soil. When I pick mine up I always get tons of sand fleas jumping, but I mean they can't hurt you, just annoy you and an unfortunate name :) Now get your wellies on and go harvest your salt hay then I'll met you down cellar for a chin-wag and a cuppa. How's that?

WOW salad already!! And you know I love Mama Edgar and the bee. :) Ninja Flash looks like Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park. 😉

And when I went looking for that, I found a better one that made me LOL:

Omg those are too great hahahaa!! I think this is what he was going for though...he's a big fan of Deadpool lmao...I'm still gonna show him your pic when he gets home though just for the lulz!

Screen Shot 2018-06-13 at 9.14.42 AM.png

Oh that's perfect, yes, Deadpool. My bad! 😂

Bwa hahahahaa, no bad, no bad, only epicness!! Teeny, tiny, man-snuggling epicness hahahaaa :)

You have totally awesome garden helpers! They did a fantastic job! You didn't do so bad yourself! So excited! Had your first salad of the year from the garden. Where're the photos of Edgar's kittens? Charlotte is a little sweety. Gotta love spidey!

Hhaha Edgar and her kittens in the deepest, darkest corner of our house, I have to get up there and take some pictures with the flash for you! I'll do that tomorrow :) :)

What a joyfull gardenning
and growing vegs instead of lawns is a great idea...teaching kids how to gather beauty and efficiency at the same time...
Wise parenting I call it...thank you @lyndsaybowes

Thank you so much for seeing the value in replacing grass lawns with food. <3

Weekly Review #7. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with growing food - not lawns :)This post has been featured in the @offgrid-online

Your kids are awesome! Nothing like a couple of boys with shovels and dirt! And geez your daughter is cute :) Love the last photo haha

My son had a favorite Power Ranger one-piece costume that he wore all the time; it had feet attached (so maybe it was pj's ...aww so many years ago), anyway, he grew so much that it became a ball bustin' outfit, so I had to cut the feet off and he continued to wear it as floods ...to school haha

Love seeing your garden grow; it all looks great. Love the "medicine" too :)

Omg the description of the power ranger costume LOLOOLOL!! Yep, I can totally picture that, soooooo cute!!

I'd love a daughter, unfortunately not in the cards for us, Charlotte is a neighbour and soooooo sweet <3 <3 <3 Thanks for visiting our humble abode again Lynn <3 <3

haha if by cute you mean weird, than yep, that's my son :)

I wondered why I hadn't seen pics of Charlotte before...just thought maybe you kept her cloistered in the basement or something :)

Your garden looks like it's coming along nicely--and how awesome that you had a salad from it already! :)

Another pretties so impressive. Edgar has scary looks. Who's a Charlotte? I never know before.@lyndsaybowes, With Kiedis and Stryder help your garden ready for taters. Both kids really active and helpful for the parents I've seen before also. I know after matured they'll be valuable persons to the community. Red Onions, Lettuce, Squash. Beans, melon and Radish all growing better now. Congrats your success.

Edgar did look scared, or shocked in that photo, I promise I was being gentle when taking her photo hehehe :)

Charlotte is our neighbour, we play with her on the weekend sometimes xo I hope you are having a great time with family this weekend @madushanka, did you celebrate Eid?

I celebrate it with Muslim friends of mine. But I haven't Eid coz I'm Buddhist.

Looking good! Your hard work is paying off. You have some good helpers :)

Hello, good planting, I loved the photos, those children are very beautiful God bless them, I see they had a great time!

God bless you too @osc10 <3

Thank you very much @lyndsaybowes it's good to meet people like you, very kind

Some great garden pictures! Getting the potatoes planted is always a big job! I'm still waiting for my yellow potatoes to come up, so far, there's only a few that have poked up their heads.
Your cat looks a lot like my cat. :-)

Yes, we totally procrastinated on the taters, but there's still lots of time really....I will only get one crop off this year, last year I got two.

I'm happy to hear you have a mini Panther of your own! They're so precious...

Wow amazing, I see their spirit burned , :D xoxoxox .. i also really like that little plant, look beautiful, i love it .. your day is always beautiful @lyndsaybowes

It's so good for you to get the boys to help! Great skills for life!
I just love when the seeds open and start bursting through the earth! And radishes!!! how I love radishes!!

Mmm the radishes were indeed delicious, and one of the easiest and fastest foods to grow too!

Lot going on up your way. Having fun in the sun. :-)

Awesome work. I like the Medicine plant. Is it CBD ?

excellent work and photography.
