Sneak Peak Access for Patrons Only... Public Access Dec 7
It looks as if Routine Building is going to be the topic of choice to get this jam rolling. I’ll let the poll play out, and this might change, but I got thinking about “Deep Work”, a topic that crossed my path to today, and the outline wrote itself in minutes.
Each of the Headers below is a blogpost, video, or both, and each of the bullet points are headers in the blog post. There are some additional ideas from the outline that will be fit in or added elsewhere.
Notice that tricks and skills are well below the other aspects of routine building. That is not an accident. Disc Management is down there as well simply because we’ve got to lay things out before we polish them up or pull them because they won’t work.
Components vs Composition
Tricks and skills are component elements of the routine. Think of your routine like a song. In a song, the melody, harmony, and lyrics are key components, but they are not nearly as important as the composition of the song. Sure it might be a nice hook with some talented singers and cool sounds, but if the composition is crap, the component elements will probably not carry the tune.
Composition takes into account the time signature, rhythm, and vocals, and is more about the tone and arrangement of musical components rather than the components themselves.
Poor composition can make the best musical components sound flat. Great composition can make flat components sound rich and amazing - better than those flat components could ever be on their own.
