May 22nd -- Steemit Ramble #156 -- Curating Great Posts for You

in #curation7 years ago

Summer is starting to break out in my neck of the woods. Actually, spring is here and the temps are more springlike than summer but the sunny days and milder temps gets people thinking summer. This past weekend was our first long weekend of the summer and traditionally is the weekend when people not only open their cottages but can feel confident planting gardens without being worried about frost.

This weekend coming up is the 30th Apple Blossom Tyme Festival in my community. I’ve sat on the organizing committee for the festival for several years but have always been busy with the Legion’s dinner that is part of the event. This year will be the first time I’ll actually be down at the festival during it.

Will need to remember to take my tablet along so I can take some photos from the Information booth which will be my job to look after. Temps are expected to be moderate but a chance of showers is forecast for Saturday. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Onward to today’s rambling

Plotting Along [Writing Tool]

@anikekirsten gives us an overview of the various elements that can come into play in order to build the plot of a story. Stories don’t just emerge from thin air, the ideas might, but then flesh needs to be put on them by the writer for them to develop.

Steem Wars: The Saga so Far

@gmuxx brings us an overview of the first week of the Steem Wars. Don’t feel left out, you can still take part. Read to the bottom of the post and find out how to get involved. The wars are for the whole community to take part in. Having fun going to war has to be a good thing.

Dezzi Q - Can You Hear Me

Yes, I’ll admit it, there is some nepotism in this selection. @dezziq is my niece, the mom of @artemisnorth’s grandsons and a pretty decent hip hop artist. Her son (my grandnephew) is a pretty decent beatboxer. She’s taken a while to embrace the platform but she’s jumped in with a vengence. Her first post was this past Sunday and you’ll find several others to check out. Welcome her aboard.

Titans of TeamGood (Radical Initiative Edition!)

I’m going to start this selection off by congratulating @battleaxe on her upcoming marriage. It’s awesome to see the founder of TeamGood enjoying some good in her real life.

@battleaxe has produced a summary of those who participating in her TeamGood initiative. Consistently doing good content and doing good on the platform and off. A great list of content to explore.

Steem Basic Income (SBI) - Interview with @dynamicgreentk

If you’re not familiar with the @steembasicincome initiative on the platform you’ll want to check out this post to get the basic idea and to meet one of the participants @dyanamicgreentk who also runs the Dynamic Steemians discord. A Steemian dedicated to helping to support those getting started and doing good things on the platform.

Drawing #21- Pencil Drawing of Kylo and Rey

@omega-not has done a nice little writeup about why this drawing was being done and thoughts behind it and then proceeded to show several stages of the finished product emerging. Nicely done. Let’s give this artist some support and encouragement.

Tennessee Steemit Meetup, with Some Live Music

In many corners of the platform and on Discord this past week has been talk about the great Tennessee meetup which took place this past weekend. @katrina-ariel has done an incredible job of capturing the event for those of us who were unable to attend in person. Great work there @katrina-ariel.

1,000,000 Steem Accounts

In the last week the platform has reached 1million accounts. This is the post from @steemitblog which is Steemit Inc, on that milestone.

99.99999999% convinced - Good enough to take the leap

Last week @dreemsteem put out a post asking for respectful discourse about bidbots.. Good, bad, whatever. Now she’s published her thoughts on them as a result of the discussion which took place on the previous post. It’s a measured and balanced response to an often volatile topic.

Coming Home in a Thousand Different Ways

@rhondak shares her take on the Tennessee meetup. Some great observations and photos shared.

Nashville Steemit Meetup + My Favorite Spots

@ameliabartlett brings us her take on the Tennessee meetup but starts by focusing on her visit to Nashville and her explorations of the area. Puts context and locale onto the meetup.

YAY!! My First Yak of the Season - Come in. The Water's Perfect! 2 Videos Inside.

@paddlingnature aka @artemisnorth loves to kayak. She recently got out for her first yak of the season and managed to take a couple of videos from the kayak. That is no easy task as she’ll explain.

Quality Content: What it is and how to write it

@hyperfundit shares their thoughts on what elements go into writing a quality content post. Their points match up well with my own, so it’s good to know there is some consensus. Actually, there is a lot of consensus if you explore the topic on the web in regards to what makes for good content.

About the Steemit Ramble

The Steemit Ramble is a manual curation project written by @shadowspub since August 2016. She scours the blockchain to locate and share the best posts so you don't have to. Every day many quality posts disappear on the blockchain leaving their authors frustrated they aren't seen and readers just as frustrated trying to find them. This curation project brings readers and authors together.

How You Can Participate?

As hard as she works, @shadowspub doesn't find all the best. You, as a reader, will find posts that have been missed and really should be seen. You can take a part in bringing these posts to light and earn a share of the post they are published in.

The Steemit Ramble has it's own discord called, Steemit Ramble. Here you can nominate posts you've found and think belong in the Ramble.

How to Nominate a Post

  1. Read How I Manually Curate to give you an idea of what I'm looking for in a post. This covers the formatting, the quality of the writing is just as important.
  2. When you find a post visit the Ramble discord and submit it to the #nominate-someones-post channel by writing a short nomination

It's that easy. I review each submission. Those I select will receive credit for the nomination, their nomination will be part of the entry in the Ramble and they will receive a portion of the SBD earned when the post pays out.

Supporting the Steemit Ramble Curation Project

In addition to reading and upvoting the Steemit Ramble, you can support the project and the authors featured in it by:

  1. Delegating even as much as 25 SP to @steemitramble -- this will increase the voting power of the account when it votes on those curated. Delegating is like loaning me some of your Steem Power so I can vote on others posts with a larger vote.

  2. Join the curation trail on SteemAuto and then join the curation trail. The trail is called Steemit Ramble
