in #culturevulture7 years ago

The people of Ekiti are aboriginal,culturally homogeneous and highly intellectual agriculturalist youruba speaking people that form a sub-group of the larger Yourba ethnic group of West Africa.
I was opportuned to visit this lovely state and I must say I had a great time.
The people of Ekiti are well known for their diverse and quality of traditional arts, music,poetry and witty sayings.

The term Ekiti denotes a mound and is derived from the rugged mountainous feature of the state.
Dressing

The dress for men in Ekiti is buba (round neck shirt) and sokoto (trouser) while women dress in buba(blouse) and iro(wrapper).
Festivals

Itapa is one of the goddess being worshipped at Ile-ife. Its festival is held for a period of 30 days and worshipped by Ooni (king) and his people till today. It is called Utaale festival.
Food
The people of Ekiti have diverse delicacies and I could not get enough of their dishes. Here are some of them;
Amala and ewedu soup

Lafun

Pounded yam and egusi soup
