You may wonder what is this? 🤔🤔🤔
And this picture represents an very rarely known custom we follow on this day. This custom is only followed by Newar Community. Today we make a meal for frogs which contains rice (Gojja - Cone shaped), beaten rice, Kwati(a special soup made on this day), betel nuts, beans, radish (cut round and on the stick representing mirror for the frogs) etc. It is believed that, frogs are responsible for making rain in current season which aid on rice plantation. So we worship frogs, and make meal for them, as a gratitude for their help and support. We leave those meals on various locations where frogs can access easily, especially near the rice fields.
What I believe is (May be scientific reason too), we humans are the superior being in this world and we are responsible for creation and destruction of our nature and other living beings. It is only gratitude for other living beings for running our ecosystem.
We hindus show our respect to all the living beings on various occasion. Like crow, dog, cow on Tihar. And today is the day of frogs. And tomorrow we are celebrating.
Thanks for reading. 😎 😎 😎
