Shivom: Learn about your DNA without leaving home

In the previous article, we started talking about the Shivom project, the creators of which are going to completely change the principles on which the use of human genomes was built up to this time. The Shivom platform, which will be created within the framework of the project, will allow them to obtain data about their DNA, share them with other interested parties, make a profit, and have another benefit from this - personalized treatment and not only.

As we said last time, users around the world, whether important from developed or poor countries, will be able to get the results of their DNA analysis without visiting relevant institutions, so in this article we will learn how this can be done and how data can be used in the future.

How to get the results of DNA analysis?
In this regard, the work of Shivom is arranged very simply. Every user who intends to become part of the Shivom ecosystem must register on the web platform by going through a simple registration process and specifying the necessary data about himself.

If he has already undergone DNA analysis and has the relevant data, he can load them into the platform so that they are included in the block for safe storage and further use. If he never took such tests or simply does not have such an opportunity in his city, he leaves an appropriate request to Shivom to pass the test at a distance.

The test kit will be sent to the user by mail immediately after he indicates his address. All that is required is to collect saliva in a special container and send it back to the Shivom laboratory. Once the results of the DNA analysis are obtained, they will be included in the blockade and displayed in the user profile.

Data on the genome - possession of their donor
The further destiny of results of the analysis of DNA - the decision of the user as they completely belong to him. In any case, do not provide the opportunity to use this data to other users - a stupid solution. First, at the discretion of the donor of DNA, this information can be provided both free of charge and for a certain fee. Secondly, the transfer of rights to the genome is the key to obtaining health care services.

Data can be purchased by various researchers, including those who develop medicines and treatments for patients. The use of such data is called R & D (Research and Development), that is, the genomes will be examined by specialists to further develop personalized treatment solutions.

If the user decides to share their data, he will be able to independently determine who is given such access, and who does not. That is, Shivom is not just a marketplace where data on DNA can be put up for sale and bought by anyone. Since the information will be stored in the blockroom, you need the appropriate key to access it.

For each genome, a pair of keys will be automatically generated and encrypted. When a user receives a request from an ecosystem participant for the provision of DNA data, he can decide for himself whether to share or not. If the user agrees to share information about his genome, further cooperation is through a smart contract.

The terms of the smart contract are simple - the data will not be provided to the other party until it makes a payment, if such data is provided for a fee. In this case, the researcher or any other participant will receive an access code to the data, after which only he will be able to view them.

Opportunity to learn about your pedigree
When DNA data is provided to other parties, the user will have the opportunity to take advantage of certain benefits. We decided to talk about most of them in the next part of the review, but we want to consider the most interesting now.

As you know, the genetic code carries a lot of information about a person, his physical data, health characteristics and so on. Therefore, one of the options is to learn more about your pedigree, the characteristics of their organisms, the trends in fertility and so on. In addition, DNA can talk a lot about the future of man, that is, about his offspring, the potential propensity to certain diseases of both the user himself and his offspring.
