Being a complete neophyte in the world of crypto (or shall I say the wild west of crypto?), I had seen the term "pump and dump" but hadn't tried to figure out what that meant since there was so much other learning to do. I can easily imagine a scenario where I had fallen prey to this type of scheme trying to make a quick crypto-buck in order to power up my Steem account only to be left holding the bag.
