Seems like you forgot to talk about users selling their votes through smartsteem and minnowbooster.

I also know of @cfminer

Thanks for sharing more possible income streams!

Good one buddy!
With the comments you are totally right many people here still don't get it that this is not FB, Twitter or Instagram and the results are low quality comments but I hope with time they will understand that this is not working.

Concerning upvote bots I have figured it out that the best time to use them is 13:00 - 15:30 Mauritius time so it will be 10:00 - 13:30 in Dublin I saw over a few days that the ROI is for some bots still in plus or very little into minus.

The upvote bots is an interesting one - I have been looking at the SteemBot site and it seems rare to see a positive return post curation!

I haven't run the maths but does this mean that users are losing out in cash terms? - I think it must.

In which case, are users taking the hit on the cost of the bot in the hope that they get pushed up and attract other (non-bot) votes that retip the balance of cost back in their favour...?

No you arenot really losing maybe you get a bit less SBD out of it but you get as well STEEM POWER so in the end you gain.
Edit: And don't forget if you buy yourself a upvote and the price of STEEM goes up till your payout you will make more ;)

Good points - thanks for clarifying :)

Your welcome glad to help :)

Thanks! I agree there - my incubator will be teaching people things like this, I'd love if you got involved in it!

And thanks for sharing that tip, I'll try it out for a few days and see if there is a difference!

Your welcome and let me know if you see a difference.
I will see if I can find the time to get involved just let me know and I will see if I am free :)

Will message you on Discord!

Even though not exactly "income", one way people passive profit is in the appreciation of the token.

Since we all feel STEEM is going to much higher levels, simply buying, powering up, and HODLing will net one a fine return.

Also, when powering up, it makes one more powerful including on self votes. So this is akin to the bots you mentioned, not really active or passive but it does equate to more STEEM in one's wallet.

Thanks for the comment and for showing people even more ways to earn through Steemit. You're right, hodling and powering up is definitely one that I overlooked and is worth a mention,

I can see why people use voting bots, but I wonder if its sustainable as steemit grows. Since accounts are doing well from selling as well as buying votes. I chose to not do it, but I am pretty much guaranteed some votes

Thanks for the comment! Honestly, I can't see it being sustainable in the long run. I think the reason that they are sustainable at the moment is because the platform is growing - when it reaches critical mass (I'm talking critical mass from a Metcalfe's law perspective) this will not be sustainable, but while I can use it I do, as I am not guaranteed upvotes - but once I build a solid following of upvotes or my posts get seen by enough people that I feel I'm helping the community enough, I will stop.

Thanks again for the comment!

Really useful information.

The rules for comments you posted are the rules that I follow. To be honest, the vast majority of my posts are comments on others'. It's a useful way to earn Steem Power & get your name known if you're shy. :)

Thanks for the tip about MinnowBooster. Resteemed.

Thanks @nxtblg and I agree, it's a great way to earn SP! It is also great if you aren't sure what to post on a certain day!

No problem - thanks for all of the support and the resteem! I an currently starting a project to support the massive influx of new users on Steemit - a free incubator and content creation system for Steemians who post great content but don't get much upvotes. Would you be available on Discord or Steemit Chat to talk more about this?

Thanks @nxtblg and I agree, it's a great way to earn SP!

I'll find out: I just delegated 2/3 of my Steem Power. :)

Would you be available on Discord or Steemit Chat to talk more about this?

I wish I could, but I'm in and out - particularly in the winter season. Feel free to try me, though.

best of luck
@halim09

Thanks for the advice.

really helpfull, thnx for the advice! upvoted resteemed and a follow

Thanks for the support!

I’m missing tip 3, it is empty in the key tips.
Replying to other posts is what I do often. It generates more steem for me then my own posts. I do only comment when I think that I have a meaningfull reply. It is also which build a community. There is a change that the person to whom you post a reply, which could have more value in the end than the instant reward you get for the reply and often it is very much appreciated!
Keep on going!

Fixed, thanks for pointing that out! And good to hear you are doing that, keep it up!

Its really affected i follow your step to successness, good job

"I find that instead of checking Facebook any more, I check my Steemit feed in my spare time and leave a few comments on other’s posts"

Me too - which is why I think centralized forms of Social Media like Facebook are fearful of this disruptive rewards-based platform. Facebook recently stopped accepting Crypto's.. probably in order to launch their own.

Why spend time on Facebook, when you can earn $ for your voice/content you already create?

For new users, I think commenting is where it's at. The one's who have the 'get-rich-quick' mentality will not succeed. At the end of the day, it boils down to educating each other through our various skillsets, knowledge, experiences, etc., people should capitalize on their diversity.

Thanks for the information!

Great comment, a perfect example of the comments people should be making! Thanks for sharing.

But its kinda sad that not much people are interested in post w/o any reward stacked..

It isn't really - people should definitely want to write because they enjoy it, but if you see some people earning a hundred dollars or a lot more on a post and you earn nothing, it has a psychological knock on effect.

income I like it.

Thank you, your post is very useful especially for newcomers in steemit. I am very interested in how you discuss it to us

I know the feeling as it's what i am going through just now.@lukebrn

I do find that commenting on other posts is most likely the best source of SBD for newcomers, other than as you say spamming or begging for help.

What i find not difficult per-se but perhaps more of a challenge and if you can shed some light onto it but as far as trying to maintain voting power particularly as a newcomer where you often have to vote 100% so the poster can take benefit of your $0.01.

Do you have any strategies on how to balance this all out other than stepping away for several hours to give it a chance to regain strength?

623e176b625d6e200811a2a329fe30f2.jpg@nxtblg you are great because resteem post..

Hi @lukebrn. Great post!:) Can you tell us more about the Steemit Incubator?

Thanks @kryptoanka! You can sign up for emails by clicking the link at the end of the post - it takes too long to type out in one comment so I will be mass emailing all who are interested and answering individual questions afterwards!

Man, I have tried those bots and haven't gotten one to work yet! I've been sending SBD, the right amounts as far as I can tell, and wait for a resteem, which never comes!

I'll have to try the one you recommend though. I've never tried an upvote bot, just resteem bots.

Now tha whole minnowbooster thing really intimidates me. I would LOVE it if someone made a YouTube video on how to do it. I've tried to get on there once or twice but never quite got it. Haha it's all this new tech stuff that is tough for me, even though you'd think I'd be good at it as a camera tech.

Ah well, I'll try again. If I DO figure it out, maybe I'll make a how-to video myself!

Thanks again for these how-to posts. I've learned a lot so far!!

Delegate SP, earn STEEM, reinvest in SP, delegate more SP and on and on... sage advice.
I don't delegate it all, like to do some manual curation myself... but hey we can only read so much.

You're your own company on Steem. You want to market your product right? Use those upvote bots.

Thanks for your comment @g-dubs! For my new project (The Steemit Success Initiative) I will be manually curating beginners' posts, actively promoting Steemit through advertising campaigns and much more. I am currently looking for any amount of delegated SP to help with the project, I would love to talk more about getting your support on the project! Are you on Discord or Steemit Chat?

Yep on Discord #g-dubs

Thanks, I messaged you there!

I'm in Steemians General right now.
I'll double your SP no problem, just tell me what to do.

Perfect, thank you! I outlined everything in a message just there.

Thanks for this helpful post. As a newbie there are a lot of things to learn especially the terms. And true that I am on steemit more thank facebook Though I don't post or comment that much there are a lot of blog entries here that makes me aware and expand my horizons and earning just comes with it. so that's a plus.

This is one of the easy to read and engaging articles on this topic when there are a lot of less satisfactory posts out there. Its a good reminder to upvote and comment when you do appreciate a piece of work - so hence my upvote and comment here - thanks again!
