one problem of bitcoin is that all of it is worth less than 40 billion dollars, so any number of billionaires banks institutions or organizations could easily buy or sell enough to manipulate the price.

I am of the opinion they have done this already and based on Super Crypto's post this is exactly what happened.
it could be a cartel or just one guy because it does not take much money.
