RE: Bovine Majesty

This is beautiful. I was myself last Sunday hiking in the Pyrenees and there were happy cows up there, just enjoying the breeze and the mountains... and I tell you they were enjoying it. I love cows, that's why I don't eat them. :(

Me too, Pris. No cows for me. Cows should be free. I've never seen a cow enjoying freedom outside of a fence, ever in my life besides in pictures, not even once. It would be an amazing experience for me that I would never forget.

I have to say I had never in the U.S. either. One of the reasons I fell in love with India is the relationship they have with animals here. Yes there are huge corporate dairy farms here too, but the average people coexist with animals here. These cows in Gokarna aren’t even milked. I don’t even know that anyone “owns” most of them. They sleep where they like and roam free, they go to their favorite shop and the shop owners give them the scraps from the kitchen or a couple chapatis. Just for “good luck”.
And they love being scratched! They’re like big friendly slow dogs but smarter and with tongues like enormous cats :) very scratchy but you can’t help but love when they start licking you like crazy because you scratched where they couldn’t reach.
Yeah I really love cows now.

I agree, I haven’t been a meat eater for a long time but India has changed my perception of cows drastically. They are lovely people.
