Curie Comment Contest

Earn Steem by leaving good comments on posts upvoted by @curie!*

*Only posts which receive a @curie vote through Curie curator/reviewer operations are eligible for this comment contest. PLEASE NOTEmany upvotes which are not part of Curie curator/reviewer operations. See below for two methods to tell what posts have been upvoted by Curie through curator/reviewer operations.

  • Visit becquerel.io to see a record of the most recent posts upvoted through Curie curator/reviewer operations and leave thoughtful comments on them for your chance to win!
  • @curie also leaves an automated comment on all posts upvoted through Curie curator/reviewer operations, so alternatively you can visit the @curie blog comments to find eligible upvoted posts to comment on.

How do I sign up?

There is no need to sign up. Simply commenting on posting upvoted through Curie curator/reviewer operations makes you eligible for the Curie Comment Contest.

The contest week will run from Sunday 15:01 UTC through Sunday 15:00 UTC

Curie will use an algorithm that evaluates comments on both quantitative and qualitative metrics. This means that in addition to the number of Curie-upvoted posts that you comment on, the quality of your comments will also factor into the score.

THE EXACT ALGORITHM AND METRICS USED TO GENERATE THIS SCORE WILL NOT BE REVEALED TO HINDER ATTEMPTS TO GAME THE CONTEST

Win up to 10 Steem!

Curie Comment Contest winners will be announced in a weekly post every Monday. In addition to the prize payout structure outlined below, the weekly champion will receive an honorary role for the week in the Curie Discord server of "Comment Champion". Bragging rights!

1st place (Curie Comment Champion): 10 Steem
1st Runner Ups (2 payout positions): 5 Steem each
2nd Runner Ups (2 payout positions): 3 Steem each
Honorable Mentions (12 payout positions): 2 Steem each

Total weekly prize pool: 50 Steem/ 17 payout positions

Spam Comments will NOT be rewarded

The comment history of all winners will be manually reviewed for spam before any prizes are paid out. Short generic comments that could have been left without reading the post will not qualify for the Curie Comment Contest. Examples of spam comments include (but are not limited to): "Nice post"; "I like your post"; "Nice picture"; "Good song"; "Great story", etc.

EGREGIOUS SPAM COMMENTERS WILL BE REPORTED TO STEEMCLEANERS

A few words of advice on leaving good, thoughtful comments

- tell the post author what in specific you liked about the post, why you liked it and/or how it made you feel. If your comment is so generic that it could have been left without reading the post, it will not qualify for the Curie Comment Contest.

Week 1 Winners!

Comment Champion - 10 Steem prize! @ecoinstant

1st Runner Ups - 5 Steem each! @eveningart & @musemeza

2nd Runner Ups - 3 Steem each! @porters & @gabrielatravels

quite as many posts upvoted by Curie (although 41 posts commented on is still nothing to sneeze at!) but scored very well on the engagement metrics to secure this position.

Honorable Mentions (in order of placement) - 2 Steem each!

For comments left during the contest week of August 5th through August 12th, 2018. All prize payouts will be sent out shortly from the @curie account. Great job @ecoinstant on commenting on an impressive 102 posts upvoted by @curie and also scoring very well on the metrics designed to measure quality of comments and engagement generated. @eveningart (109 posts) and @musemeza (108 posts) commented on the most posts upvoted by Curie out of all commenters and also scored well on the other metrics to secure the 1st runner up positions. Congrats! @porters commented on 81 posts upvoted by Curie and was very close to catching @musemeza with high scores on quality and engagement generated. @gabrielatravels is an example of someone who didn't comment on @adamada; @drawmeaship; @lynncoyle1; @veryspider; @hetty-rowan; @karamyog; @fitinfun; @enjar; @solcross; @scrawly; @ilsaione; @cheekah

The Curie Comment Contest is WORKING!

The goal of this contest is to drive engagement toward the awesome authors curated by Curie every week. Compared with the prior 4 week period in July, we saw over an 150% increase in comments left on posts upvoted by Curie! And we are just getting started :)

Let the wild rumpus begin!

Thanks so much for this fab contest! Thrilled to have reached runner up and just squeaked in with the most comments for the week.

I met so many wonderful auhors this week and loved every minute of their posts. Thanks for the fun!

Congratulations everone! E x

Thanks for leaving so many awesome, in depth comments! I was really impressed with how thoughtful some of your insights were. You rock :)

Thank you Carl- that means a lot! And the pleasure was all mine- it was an epic week of discovery for me - a lot of fun! You rock right back :)

This is a very good initiative, votes are one thing, they are a financial reward, but comments can be as valuable as a vote in retaining people, and keeping them producing good content. Feedback, on what caught the readers eye, of what the reader liked it about it, then the creator can create more content that the reader may want.

I 100% agree, and in particular when it comes to user retention, actually receiving comments and feedback on your posting here goes a long way. I agree that can be just as valuable as a big upvote in its own way as far as making people want to stick around.

This is a good initiative to make people more engaged. Let’s hope the comments will motivate people to keep producing quality posts :).

Thanks @scrawly! You do a terrific job engaging authors in the comments, I see you everywhere in the art posting! Much love - Carl

Thank you so much @curie team for sponsoring so much engagement all over Steem. I believe that this engagement is a very important part of the 'secret sauce' that is going to make the steem platform great.

Increased engagement has benefited me in a number of ways this week, from new followers to new people to follow, with a multitude of enjoyable and valuable conversations about life and art.

I have wanted to be a Curie curator since I first got encouraged early on with a curie vote. Since then, I have discovered that my style is more to curate users, and I have found my niche in engagement. I am now in the curie discord and will continue to participate in all that Curie has to offer!

Let's Steem on, towards Love and Light!

You rock @ecoinstant! I was very happy to see not just how many posts you had commented on, but how many actual conversations you got into with the authors with back and forth exchanges :) You are doing great work on the platform :) Much love - Carl

always a great job that favors merits and contents

This is a great initiative; I'm glad @curie is still driving quality content and engagement here on Steemit... in these days when so much sadly seems to be automated and bot driven.

Thank you for that!

You are welcome! Curie has always had a focus on engagement (when we review an author's blog history prior to a @curie upvote one of the things we are looking for is engagement with other users) but we are trying to step it up even farther through support of various initiatives and contests that help to build community and generate engagement. The Curie Comment Contest is still in its infancy but it is already showing some very promising results! Cheers

Thanks so much for the STEEM. I found some great post through this contest. There is some wonderful folks out there doing some awesome posting. thanks for helping me find them!

That is what we want to hear! And thank you!

Thank you so much @curie!! I love seeing these kinds of contests that really encourage commenting and engagement :) And I'm more than happy to participate!!

Congratulations @ecoinstant, @eveningart, @musemeza, @porters & @gabrielatravels ... and of course to everyone participating :)

Lynn you are such a positive presence on Steem blockchain and discord alike, thanks for all you do!

What a sweet thing to say Carl! Thank you 😅

This truly will encourage more engagement in the platform, and then friendships.

Again, it is engagement not spams. ☺☺☺

Yes and thanks for mentioning that again, the last thing we want to do is cause a wave of spam commenting on Curie upvoted posting. As mentioned in the contest post, we do manually review the comment history of all winning placements and we will absolutely not be rewarding spam commenters.

And also, what a wonderful point that engagement like this leads to friendships from the new connections. Here is to new friends! Cheers :) - Carl

@curie,

This is actually a really good idea.

thanks for the organizers, as well \o/

Thank you so much! ♥️

Great job done by the winners! Congratz to everybody! Good to see this kind of engagement!

Thank you so, so much for the kind words! It's been a pleasure for me to spend time and read qualitative posts and comment on them. I would comment on even more that 41 if I had more free time. Thank you! ♥️

You did a great job @gabrielatravels and sparked some nice conversations with authors :) That is what we want to see!

Well I do know how is it to spend a few hours creating a good post and to receive short comments, most of them being nonsense and spam so if I give to someone my upvote, I prefer to also read his/her post and socialize.
I wish I would see this from more people :)

Hello thank you for this great contest;) i really enjoy the idea of this challenge i discoved lots of great post in all different kinds of aera and that whats i enjoyed the most:)

As always doing a great job of helping the community to give support to users who need it! Thank you for this excellent work

Thanks for the prize. Hopefully, I'll get to check out a few more posts this week. Quality over quantity is always my goal though

I leave you some pieces of art that I think may be of your interest, a big hello and hug for you.
hello @curie https://steemit.com/myanmar/@dpakyaw/enkhethu-etnenyasmwapa

congratulations and success chosen by @curie

Thank you for doing this, and for the nice boost in my wallet. I really liked this task and saw so many good posts I never would have seen otherwise. I am just keeping your becquerel.io screen open and refreshing it couple times a day. I go to 1-2 posts that interest me based on the titles and comment as I can. It's really been a nice addition to my steemit days, and I will keep doing it.

Yay! That is great news and exactly what we want to hear. We thought this was a simple way to both generate more engagement for authors and also expose readers to some really enjoyable content as well! Win win!

WOW, I think this project is too cool, I always have the incentive to see that the ranks curators like @curie take the fact of being able to help content authors, congratulations for this great initiative !!

Thank you for doing STEEM - better. Good luck to you and Love.

Спасибо, что делаете STEEM – лучше. Удачи Вам и Любви.
