For interesting splashes of colour in your sunny garden you need to add this lily to your array. It has bright orange spikes at the top which fade off to yellow at the bottom as the flower matures. You can expect a long-lasting floral display for several weeks during the summer season.
The Torch Lily enjoy hot summer areas with mild winters. They grow well in full sun with rich organic, well-drained soil. You can create a beautiful picture planting them at a water edge like here in these photos. The Torch Lily can reach a height of up to 90cm and a spread of 40-60cm.
These lilies grow in gardens all around the world and their colours can range depending on the hybrids from reds, orange, yellow, lime green and cream. Some of the species are evergreen while the others sprout in the early summer months. The Kniphofia is part of the Asphodelaceae family which comprises of 17 genera and 750 species.
Honey bees, butterflies and hummingbirds love to rob these flowers of their nectar.
