Technological advancements are constantly being fueled by automation and abstraction. With the use of software programs and purpose-built machines, the once complex and arduous procedures have been greatly simplified and made much more practical and efficient. For example, we now have cloud computing that has remarkably simplified the process of setting up a server. Instead of requiring "experts" to do it, just about anyone can do it now due to perpetual and innovative technological advancements.
Technological Advancements could soon Automate, Abstract Entire Business Processes
The beauty of cloud computing is that the complicated process of installing and managing a server has been morphed into an abstraction. Moreover, many believe that machines will be better able to delegate tasks to other machines compared to humans in the future. Should this happen, then it might even be a good idea to automate entire business processes and procedures, with little to no human intervention.
Automating and abstracting a complete network might also be possible, and this could potentially enable it to function autonomously. By operating independently, the network would be able to store, secure, and transmit data without the need for humans to manage it. Considering the emergence of numerous cryptographically secure networks, which manage billions of dollars worth of digital currency such as Bitcoin, it does not seem too far-fetched that with more technological advancements, a highly secure network for data transmission might soon become a reality. It would also not be difficult for users to set their visibility to either private or public.
Some of the benefits of this private and autonomous network would be increased confidence among its users regarding the integrity and security of the data that they share with the network. This type of network would further benefit (theoretically) from the elimination of third party attacks which can often adversely affect networks. Malicious hackers might also be unable to steal funds or compromise confidential information on this network due to its robust encryption protocols. Again, all this might be possible if technological advancements continue to occur at their current pace, or faster.
Some use cases for such an encrypted, decentralized, and autonomous network would be in internet-of-things (IoT) applications that could effectively power driverless automobiles in the future. It would be critical that IoT networks that driverless cars of the future would run on be immune to failure or "cyber-kinetic" attacks. Contributing greatly with cutting-edge technological advancements to the development of such a network is the MaidSafe organization. They call it the SAFE network.
The primer to the SAFE network reads:
"it would offer a much needed alternative to the current Internet, dominated as it is by a handful of enormously powerful corporations and used by governments to keep tabs on us all. This is a power dynamic that’s ripe for change."Crypto Magazine
