My second arrangement published on Sheet Music Plus was another work by Ernesto Nazareth, "Escovado", a Brazilian tango. Subtitle that the composer himself gave to some of his works, but that musically is already the maxixe as we know it today.
(For those who want to know more about the first published arrangement, "Confidencias" by the same composer, follow the link below)

The instrumentation chosen this time was guitar and clarinet. Two instruments that often appear together in the choro groups here in Brazil.
The form of this work is AABBACCA, in the arrangement AA'BB'ACC'aA. Where each symbol (') is a melodic variation of the previous section, and (a) a variation in the minor key of (A).
Different of "Confidences", in "Escovado" I had the impetus to explore melodic variations, as in the improvisation sections of the ensembles dedicated to the genre.
The guitar acts as an accompaniment, along with the typical contrapuntal lines of the instrument in the instrumental ensembles. It is quite true that in some moments he doubles the melody with the clarinet as in (B '), and at other times he assumes the function of a soloist as in the repetition of (A) after (B).
Much of the musical information was extracted from the 1904 publication by the publisher "Casa Vieira Machado & CIA" with the original for solo piano. The edition of "Instituto Moreira Sales" published in 2013, in the form of chord and melody, was also consulted.

A forma desta obra é AABBACCA, no arranjo AA'BB'ACC'aA.
