Welcome everyone to another Chibera article. Today we are going to be talking about the beta.
As the majority of you will know, the purpose of a beta version of a game is quite simple. To test whether all the mechanics work as intended. To try to find bugs in the game. To see if everything is fun. And today we want to tell you about our plans for the beta.
With great disappointment, we have to tell you guys that our original plan of us possibly releasing the beta version around the end of this year will not come to fruition. But you might be surprised by the reasons behind our decision to postpone beta.
The primary reason why we are postponing beta is the fact that we have found ourselves in a situation where some of our back-end investors are requesting that we do so. They want to see our game succeed and to have the highest fidelity possible. And all of that requires time. While we could present a beta soonish, we've decided to fill their requests and push the beta further down the line. Also, the community support we hoped to see, has not really been significant enough. So Chibera is forced to find other funding alternatives so we do not run out of capital.
Other reasons are pretty standard. While we hoped that development would go without any hiccups, that just wasn’t the case. As it almost never is, sadly. We did have a few delays on the development side of things as developing a full-blown open world MMORPG certainly is one hell of an undertaking. And even more, so developing one with a connection to the blockchain.
We hope you’ll understand the reasons why the beta for Chibera needs to be postponed. But don’t despair! The delay will only bring good things like:
One last thing to mention, the alpha version - the version available only to contributors - is still coming very soon!

Just discovered Steemit and the first thread I found was yours. Looks like a nice and serious project, gonna dig a bit more.
Welcome to steem @revgraphics
This makes me more excited not less - a longer alpha, with more updates; increased time for development, fundraising and community building - these things are going to set up for a way better game in the long run!
Appreciate the honest appraisal of the situation. It's a far better thing to fall on your sword and present the truth than to hype something and then not meet expectations. This is the wise decision.
We could have released a beta on the time frame, but then we would have been like very other blockchain game who releases low quality expecting it to be okay. Not us, no way no how we'd allow our quality to suffer. Also, this will allow us to have more content, gear and for us to work with the community a lot more before beta launch.
The only way we can turn this market into something is by providing high-quality experiences showing people blockchain can and will work like the normal industry. But alpha will be coming soon, this just means the people who contributed over level 5 will just have longer to enjoy the alpha and help us out.
waiting for the final alpha version.. it ll be super cool i hope!
I agree it is better to wait for a quality product, thanks for being brave enough to wait.

I'm pretty sure once you hit beta you will find a lot more support coming your way. This is just too big of a project and people are sceptical you can pull it off and hesitate to invest when the risk is too high.

"Also, the community support we hoped to see, has not really been significant enough."
Many of us are probably waiting to see something, literally something, that would make us think, this attempt of creating a MMORPG will see light of the day in a state that anyone will want to play it.
Yet we've been left quite hopeless when it comes to that aspect. Perhaps you could try your luck on Kickstarter and you'll see others voice out the same thing as I.
Any good MMORPG's take millions to make, this just feels like another cash crab from Steem community who knows no better and has high hopes.
So how about you guys start showing something that will make people want to support you?
To prove me wrong, what have you guys shown us other than some asset running and jumping in a small scene? How long would it for me, a complete amateur, to make that same scene happen? A day perhaps? Yet you keep asking for more money and support. At this point it's like you're asking us to throw more money to your enormous hopes and dreams with not much backing up.
So please change that, make us want to give you money. Talk less about money, and show us the work.
Well, that's not the case because we have received over 14,000 dollars from just 42 people in crypto, fiat and over 30,000 sp in delegation. We started fundraising as the crypto market started to collapse.
Also, we normally don't spend 250-500 a post to get it to the top of trending for advertising unless it's kind of important. We don't really talk about money much in our posts, this is the first time lack of support has really been brought up in a post.
As for not showing much:

We share a bit in the discord and don't always make posts on small changes. People in the discord see things a lot more often then we post. Also, they tend to see things before they post.
Don't tell me you are seriously showing that as an proof of work? 12k is a lot of money actually, I feel sorry for those guys. Is there a way for these people to get their money back? Time and time again these assets you're showing can be done by anyone following a few hour tutorial... I might have to find my old unity multiplayer project and show that around, it actually has functionality also.
And what happened with the twitter version you were building here and asking all kinds of different funding and investing for it as well? I'm not sure are you just honest dude who's trying his best but falling short or something totally else, I'm having to lean to the latter part more and more.
I wish you luck but this is just starting to look sad. My estimation is when even the little funding you're getting through these posts runs out, you'll figure out something else and try to get money out from these people who don't have a clue. But for that to happen time has to take place and reality to sink in.
Perhaps you should limit the scope of your project if you actually want to get something polished out. Perhaps even focusing on tech that connects these game engines to Steem so you could perhaps sell it for small fee to others.
Good luck with your project yet again.
My advice for anyone seriously wanting to play this MMORPG, check out Crowfall and Camelot Unchained, their history and progress. Usually games like these take 5 years to make with and experienced team with serious funding.
I need some more SP so I can reply more frequently, this is a pain in the ass.
Yes, we're showing it as proof of work, this is how games are developed. Before they are brought over to the engine. The reason for the post you're commenting is we want high quality so this is the map being reworked in world-machine pro.
We said there are things that have not been put in posts. Like multiplayer functionality working.
Just because not everything is posted don't mean things aren't happening. As you stated games take years to complete. We're working to release a beta. Not a full game, nowhere have we stated this will be a fully complete game in a few months.
So hows Chibera doing these days?
