RE: Can Cbd Make Us More Productive?

in #cbd5 years ago

If you’re not a fan of getting high, or if you hate its other side effects, you can opt for taking CBD oil that has almost zero THC. Assuming one takes the ideal CBD serving size, it’s quite safe for long-term usage.

Energy Boost

While CBD is often associated with calmness, there are some studies suggesting it can help people in your office stay awake. A paper published by Current Neuropharmacology suggests that it helps keep people awake while also regulating your sleep cycle. This doesn’t really mean it can work as a quick hit for energy, but you will notice it over time.

A big trend is CBD mixed with caffeine, usually in the form of coffee or energy drinks. Aside from the marketed “calm coffee”, this substance mixture can also boost the stimulating effects of caffeine. As both substances (CBD and caffeine) affect the way adenosine receptors work, You will have a double hit to your morning expresso.

According to this paper, CBD prolongs the alertness of caffeine by mitigating neurons from uptaking adenosine. Another suggests that CBD also protects against chronic ill effects from prolonged caffeine usage.

Mood

Working on a hard project is bound to put you in a sour mood eventually, and perhaps even flare up depression. You are even at risk of chemical imbalances or brain atrophy, affecting your ability of critical thinking, learning, and sharing with others.

According to one scientific paper, cannabidiol is capable of protecting and restoring your hippocampus, which is commonly atrophied in those suffering from chronic depression.

CBD is also capable of activating 5-HT1A, a type of serotonin receptor. This will have a similar desired effect for what certain anti-depressants are made for, but being able to increase restoration in the hippocampus (in theory). Some might be afraid of taking SSRI medication due to the immediate spike in serotonin, so this might be a lighter & manageable alternative.

Inflammation, in general, is also associated with depression, which can come from stress, poor diet, and other lifestyle factors. CBD oil is quite potent as an anti-inflammatory remedy, so this can tackle your poor mood from another angle.

An unhappy worker or business owner probably won’t have much passion for their career. Instead of giving into depression, CBD may be a means of mitigating it, bringing back your desire to work.

Anxiety and Inhibition

Anxiety is a major problem affecting workplaces, affecting the ability to focus on work and collaborate with others. The crisis is usually met with anti-depressants, anti-anxiety meds, or people experimenting with various substances as a means for self-medication.

Marijuana is known to worsen anxiety and paranoia in most users due to THC. CBD oil has quite the opposite effect since it’s filtered out and usually sourced from low-THC hemp in the first place.

There was one study in 2010 that found blood flow had changed in areas of the brain linked to anxiety after using CBD oil. While there is still conflicting scientific merit to this idea, there is plenty of positive experiences shared on social media that would lead us to believe it’s working for people.

Of course, you will have to get your CBD oil from a safe and reliable CBD shop if you’re serious about eschewing THC consumption. Some stuff on the market may use inferior filtration methods or simply market cold-pressed hemp oil as CBD.

This isn’t to say that CBD is the most effective means of calming those with social or work-related anxieties, but it is relatively low in side-effects compared to pharmaceutical drugs.

Conclusion

Assuming you tolerate it well, I think there is a case for CBD being useful for work productivity. While it would be far-fetched to expect it being given out at offices, you may go ahead and try it out if it helps with focus & well-being enough to make you a more efficient worker.
