This is a 1970's ad for the sports version of the Mazda RX3, the SP. The RX3 used Mazda's rotary, or Wankel engine, the 12A version with twin rotors. This was coupled to a 5 speed manual gearbox. The RX3 already had a long racing history when this version was released.
The engine came with a 5 year 75,000 mile warranty, such was Mazdas confidence in the reliability of the powerplant.
Never seen this little beauty before. The decals look to really suit it. Any idea on the bhp?
[sorry, that was a dozy question lol]
I think this model is 130bhp, pretty good for a 1200cc 70’s car. MPG don’t ask...
Decent poke then for a 70s motor :)
Probably left 98% of other cars for dust back then.
Mmm,...... a BMC 1974 Vanden Plas 1100 with a whopping 55bhp and a 0-60 time of 21s.......... no contest lol
Haha yeah it’s amazing those old cars could move at all 😂
I’ve had a few 60’s, 70’s and 80’s cars, gonna make a list and do some posts about them.
Most of them didn't start, never mind move lol.
The number of times I was late for school cos my mate's mother's MGB refused to fire up.
Good solid British Empire engineering mate 😂
Yup, LOL
