What a timely post!!
I have been thinking of this test lately, and try and impose delayed gratification on myself all the time, with varying success.
The other day I decided to try it on my daughter. I asked her if she would like her usual £1 treat after gymnastics, or if she waited 4 days, she could have £5 to spend on whatever she wants.
She thought about it for about 3 seconds and said £5 on Friday was better than £1 on Monday. By Tuesday she was showing signs of regretting her decision, however by the next day she realised she had made the right call!
Today is the day for her delayed treat. It may be too late for me, but I'll do everything to make sure she becomes a delayed gratification adult.
What a great lesson for your daughter. I love it.
