This book is really badass. For those who don't know H.P. Lovecraft, he's arguably the most significant figure in 20th century horror fiction. He was the first genre writer to have his work collected in the Library of America, and his works have inspired a number of films and countless literary imitations. Virtually unknown during his lifetime except to a small group of young admirers, Lovecraft's fame has steadily risen since his untimely death at the age of 46.
A Lovecraft Retrospective was published in 2008 by the esteemed Centipede Press and features 400 pages of artwork that has directly or indirectly illustrated the writings of Lovecraft. It's divided into three eras and also includes numerous standalone prints. Absolutely stunning. Take a look:
