এ.এফ.সালাহ্উদ্দীন আহমদ
ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশের খ্যাতিমান উদারবাদী, মুক্তচিন্তক, ঐতিহাসিক৷ দেশের সর্বোচ্চ বেসামরিক সম্মাননা স্বাধীনতা পুরষ্কার ও একুশে পদকে ভূষিত এ জাতীয় অধ্যাপক ২১ সেপ্টেম্বর ১৯২২ সালে ফরিদপুরে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন৷ তিনি মুক্তচিন্তা ও ধর্মনিরপেক্ষতার ক্ষেত্রে উল্লেখযোগ্য ব্যক্তিত্ব৷ কলকাতা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে ইতিহাস বিষয়ে এমএ করেছিলেন৷ লেখাপড়া করেছিলেন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের পেনসিলভেনিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে এবং লন্ডন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে পিএইচডি করেছিলেন৷ তিনি বিভিন্ন সময়ে রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের অধ্যাপক ছিলেন৷ ১৯ অক্টোবর ২০১৪ সালে ৯২ বছর বয়সে ঢাকায় তিনি মৃত্যুবরণ করেন৷
