Beers Of The Week #3 - IT CAME IN A BOX!
this... Is my new favorite beer!!
But first..
Wow this week I've had a lot of beers! To much maybe. But this might not be a big problem. As I got some news to announce. I will stop making Beers of the week for atleast 4 weeks.
I've signed myself up for a Fitness training program lasting 28 days. This is a very strict program and my weekly Beer post will also be replaced by this new Fitness workout post. I can not drink beer for the entire next month.
BUT. Since I've had so much beers this week. I've got enough beers to make a post every week ! One by One. But only those who are worth mentioning.
But for now. LETS DIVE HEAD IN!
Paradox Islay - BrewDog
Style | Whisky Cask Aged Imperial Stout. |
Alcohol | 15% |
Brewery | BrewDog |
Location | Ellon, Aberdeenshire Scotland |
Description | See image below |
Description internet | Paradox Islay is the latest of our whisky cask aged imperial stouts to be released from its smoky, shadowy cocoon. We have kept our Paradox locked away for 178 days in Islay whisky barrels before bottling. Roasty malt flavours of coffee and chocolate combine with smoky molasses. Spicy hop bitterness balances the malt, before layers and layers of rich, peaty Islay whisky character build to epic proportions. 100 IBU |

Smell & Aroma | Ultra strong smoke. Burnt wood. Before you even taste this beer you know you hit the jackpot by the smell of it. Makes the other beers smell like you are sniffing vitamin water. |
Bottle design | IT CAME IN A BOX! So yeah really great and luxerious. However all of brewdog's bottles have merged to be regonizeable and got the same design. So you know you have a BrewDog. I think the design of the bottle itself is okay. |
Appearance | It looks like a mixture of Really dark red wine with some guiness stout. It does not foam alot, Wich is great if you do not want to waste beer pouring or opening the bottle. |
Taste | Where to even start. I do not know if I am proffesional enough to give the proper explenation of this beer. As my collegeage said. " It tastes like hard working 1950s.... Like really good burned steak. " Well I do not know how burned steak is good. But it did make perfect sense in the situation he was telling it in. He had his eyes closed like he was drinking black liquid gold. I would say. Its a explosion on your taste buds. there is so much going on. Burned wood. smoked fish. Coffee. Chocolate. Whiskey. And maybe if you taste really good. even some beer. There are more stouts saying they got "chocolate" or "smoked" taste. but this is atleast 3 times more in your face then the avarage 8% stout. |

Notes | Eeeekkk its very limited... If you can get your hands on one. Do it. You might need to search for a while. Its expensive but worth every penny. Drink this to celebrate something. with friends or loved ones. This is not a get drunk beer. Not for beginners either. You will proberly spit it out because its overwhelming. I paid $35 for this bottle. |
Online Rating | This beer gets a average of 4.1/5 stars on Untappd |
Rating | 4.5/5 I am very strict on my ratings so 3 is considered good. 4 is excellent and 5 is perfect. |
Thanks for reading !
Remember next week to see what other beer I've got for you. And see my first part of my fitness transformation!
I hate to think what that would have cost at The Local Taphouse, drinking a 15% boxed beer in venue- impressive
It was $35
Any beer that comes in a box is too fancy for me!
