Hello guys, since most of my posts are about things you should do on Steemit. Today we are going to talk about the list of what not to do on Steemit. The things you should be watching out for and not doing it on the platform. Let's get started.
#1. Do not beg on Steemit
Do not beg for attention and especially not for upvotes. Begging is degrading. I saw people begging for upvotes or resteemed in the comments. Chances are people won't and will probably flag you for spam. Just create good high-quality content and you will automatically get upvotes.
#2.Do not copy and paste articles on Steemit
Copying and pasting someone content and get paid off it, just seems wrong. You might think that you're giving credit to the author but that's not that case. As soon as you copy and paste something you will get detected by Cheetah Bot. The purpose of Cheetah Bot is to detect plagiarism and warn the community that there's a similar content. What worst you could even get downvoted by steemcleaner causing your reputation and payouts to go down.
#3.Do not spam on Steemit
Spamming is not a good idea. Don't go spamming your link on people posts. You will get ignore and even worst get flagged. There are other ways to promote your post. You could look for similar topics and start a conversation with them and create a connection.
#4. Do not hit & run
Some people take the content of their Youtube or their blog and post it on Steemit and then go offline without engaging and voting for anyone content. Consider you're giving a nice reward. People will start seeing that you haven't been rewarding others and only cares about yourself. Make a habit of responding to as many of the comments on your blog posts. This will keep your blog post on the active list for longer and thus gives you a chance at greater content creation rewards.
#5.Do not use the wrong tag
Don't use a tag that has nothing to do your post. For example, I saw a lot of posts in the introduce yourself. Unless you're actually writing a real introduction, you shouldn't use that tag. Choose right tags for your post. Using the wrong tag could set yourself up to potentially get flagged.
#6. Do not flag others for no reason.
Flagging on Steemit works similar to upvoting. There are no rules to tell you what you should flag or shouldn't flag, but the bad reason to flag someone is jealous of the rewards, disagreeing with the author or even revenge.
#7. Do not post anything you want to change in the future.
Editing of your posts both comments and blog posts close after 7 days which is usually 24 hours after publishing keep in mind that your comments like your blog posts are on the Steem blockchain so every revision you make is stored and will be there forever they cannot be deleted.
Good Post, especially flagging have to stop here and the upvotings of the huge whales for each others...
Yes, they like to support each other.
can i seek your guidance in this respect
buddy! im new here
I have some more advice for everyone.
Don't tell a whale that they are cheating even if they are. I foolishly did this thinking they might listen and do good, I was wrong.
There are many Psychopathic predators here like in our world. They will just destroy your reputation score and hurt your post value.
Never use a loan shark to get steem power they will charge you more than the real banks we all hate.
Use minnowbooster.net if you can not be patient. They call it a lease. They will help you get a good rate , you will not have to give away your password and you will be protected.
If you use loan shark they will charge you 800 percent APR or more.
The most ever charged I have seen on minnowbooster.net is 40 percent APR.
Remember it is a crime in some countries to charge those high loan shark rates. It is called predatory lending.
As well use steembottracker.com if you are going to try and buy upvotes. You can get a good estimate of your return if you take the time to learn it. Make sure you know the owner of the vote bot, I think many of them just use it to steal. Remember that you can get cheated by a up vote bot. You have to consider the curation reward when buying a vote. that costs 25%. I have been cheated by upvote bot and when I tried to confront them they attacked me took away the vote I paid for and ruined my reputation. There is no sheriff on STEEMIT.
What is a whale?
There are also some whales that might seem benevolent, but remember that the way they became a whale is by the love of money. AND the love of money is the root of all evil.@sspeckeledsheep it is a entity on here that has enought steempower to destroy your reputation for no reason. Just like in life the whales rule the ocean, with the killer whale being the most ferocious of the whales. There are many killer whales here on Steemit. They fight amongst themselves, they will destroy a minnow that they dont like in a moments notice.
A whale can be helpful to you if you kiss the tail end of it, cower to it like a dog to its owner. But remember they will not like you much if you don't keep giving them your steem backed dollars.
A person on steemit with a lot of money invested in steempower.
The big steemit accounts
Oh wow, I didn't know that editing abilities close after 7 days, good to know. And yes, a huge pet peeve of mine is seeing people lazily straight copy and paste news articles without adding any of their own insight.
Yes, you can edit anything before 7 days period. After that, it's forever on the blockchain. So post wisely my friend :)
I'm okay with it being on the blockchain but what if you post a picture with someone and the person who you took the picture with wants that photo to be taken down. It can cause a lot of legal problems if someone was filmed on Dtube and wants to be removed.
That could be a problem. I don’t how they’re going to take it down. I think by flagging they’re able to hide the content.
Matap kapan. Kapan sy di lik
That does not mean that after 7 days the blockchain owns the content, does it? If we post original material on Steemit, it stays being our content, right?
I'm pretty new to Steemit and would like to know if my content will not be stolen by the blockchain.
I'll have to test this, i have an idea that won't work if its true. :(
@bluntsmasha it should work
Really great article on what not to do... but here is my confusion: what is the difference to asking or begging for upvotes that is apparently a no, no and holding a competition asking for exactly the same thing.
Asking and begging is quite similar. If they like you they will upvote you.
Ok cool. So the best way to hide the asking is in the form of a competition! Got it. Thanks man. Have an awesome day!
"Do not beg for attention and especially not for upvotes. Begging is degrading."
"Upvote and Comment below for your chance to win some SBD."
🤔
I hold a contest to give out SBD to my followers that comment on my post. That's not begging. I just to reward people for supporting me.
Sounds quite similar to begging, according to your other comment.
"Asking and begging is quite similar. If they like you they will upvote you."
Something totally acceptable on steemit is hypocrisy. Whenever you see whales fighting they cry about someone "abusing" steemit and in their comments is full of upvote bots. How about just let people do what they want, if they're bad they will lose their reputation and won't make money and will go away.
I definitely don't think giving SBD to the followers through the contest is not begging! I can't wait to be able to do contest and reward them! It's more like rewarding not begging!
Absolutely, 120% agree with you! Especially,
Yes, we come to have relationship using Steemit, and degrading relationship is neither healthy nor long-lasting. As Steemians, we just should post good contents and communicate with each other friendly, as Steemit is not about money.
@sujisyndrome Thanks for agreeing with me. I hope everyone would think like you. Just be friendly and communicate with each other. And help each other grow. I like that :)
Keep on keeping on. 😇Unfortunately @sujisyndrome I have a feeling many might disagree with your last sentence. It isn't about the money for me either, but I think it may be so for many. 😉
Thanks for your comment, and it would be unfortunate for those who do Steemit only for money, because there is much more than that.
Followed you :)
You are most welcome. I am following you too, but 😂 only in English.
Very imformative. Thanks

Nice previewing, nice expression!!
All right..
Thank you very much!
Good advice! I'm pretty sure I've been following these guidelines, but it's good to have them laid out for you like this.
I'm glad just keep doing what you're doing :)
The truth will set you free. :P
That's right :)
The truth is i did not know many of this, thanks for enlighten us on the do's and don't on steemit , you are a great leader
Thank you so much @sola3097
Good post! It's a think that everyone have to know
I hope everyone will follow these
Thanks for the info, I've been on steemit for about a month now and I'm still working out what kind of content I want to post. These steemit donts are helpful to all in noobs. Thanks again!
You're very welcome. I hope you will figure out what kind of content you'll be writing about. Good luck to you.
I have a clear picture of what I want to do, I just hope that there is an audience for it.
thank you for the information, I almost made a mistake, but because I have read this finally did not
I'm glad my post help you from making any further mistake. Good luck to you!
Good rules and nicely illustrated 👍🏼 In fact it should be normal anyway... but sometimes... 😑
And personally I'll have to think about the 'introduceyourself' tag I used quite often because the picture shows something of myself. But maybe you are right - going to change the habit...
Thank you... 😚
Try to use different tag see how it work for you :) Best of luck!
still experimenting... but think the introduceyourself tag is a really good one with a lot of attention - especially of guys looking for nice girls what is quite natural... I will test it maybe with another post... Anyway I always 'introduce' another view of my nips peeping out which is definitely a part of myself ;-) We'll see - maybe I'm wrong and tags are not so important at all...
changed already 😊
That’s good :)
Thanks for sharing this information.
Your welcome
Thanks for this! I really like #1....DON'T BEG!
Yes hope you will do well on here!
Thanks for these reminders. It seems that the general idea on Steemit ideally is to create as much value for others as you can and that value will come back to you with time. And you do this with your posts so you are an inspiration to me.
That's the idea. Give value to the platform. Thank you :)
It's really nice, that someone tells the community what not to do... That's the first article I read about... all others are telling me, what I have to do to get rich and famous on Steemit 🤪
Yes, let's be more realistic. We can make some money but getting rich will need a lot of work and time.
who wants to get rich? Not me 😇
But it's nice to have some pocket money ✌️
As usual I really value the content you provide and time you take to remind everyone, especially those like myself that are new, as to the ins and outs of this platform. The time that people like yourself take to make steemit a better place is really appreciated! :)
If I focus on helping others to grow I will grow in return, that's how I see it. :)
Hi! Thanks for the wonderful post. I followed you. Would you mind following me back?
Yes ofcourse. Follwed back :)
Thank-you.
Sorry I am for the vent, but arbitrariness always upsets.
Keep on keeping on. 😇
Resteemed.Yes, @steemcleaners stopped one of my posts saying it had a low rating, even though it had votes. I have a feeling however that it was a robot without a person's oversight, or at least no oversight for 48hrs. The info may have been available from 1884 on a www site which also may be a plagiarists' as he had not mentioned the publisher, or even that it was written by the input of hundreds of readers. The excert that I had put up was part of a series. They are historical excerts, from a Victorian encyclopaedia which is no longer published since before WW2, so, as I had explained, had a person read the blog, rather than arbitrarily deciding on one post, the excerts which I have been posting are not claimed, nor are they a whole encyclopaedia. For reasons pertaining to WW1, they were rendered to my public for examples of our grandparents way of life after WW1. I experienced first hand, by swift hand when I was negligent, the etiquette and grammar expected of a formal social intercourse. Here on steemit.com these excerts are more easily found and used than searching a defunct encyclopaedia from the century before last. The teachings enclosed are still viable today, and 'I hope' my children and their cousins and their children will still base their polite social intercourse upon them. The persons overseeing their plagiarism robots might do well to actual read and apply some of these Hints in my blog. I have very little else of that publication to add, but some 100 year old Pharmacopoeia as an interesting aside, particularly for those among us who live far from shops and hospitals, or even flying doctors.
Yes steemcleaners is a robot. You need to be careful, these robot goes around and cleans your payouts by downvoting. Good luck to you simon :)
I'm a gov't pensioner, and I'd love nothing better than a court case, but I really don't think an Attorney General, of England or Australia, would back any claim to ownership of a publicly collected encyclopaedia of 'common knowledge.'
The site hasn't even had the decency to reply. They allow an unthinking robot to make arbitrary decisions without oversite, and then when proven wrong or on argument so, still don't reply. As I said, the robots driver's need to oversite their actions, and for responsibility, perhaps actually read and if they have been arbitrary, resteem. They, the owners/drivers could well do with studying the politeness of formal communication as presented in my blog. @cheetah helped me discover the name of the collection. What I discovered is that the plagiarism seems to be that which @steemcleaners is using to call me. The www site @cheetah found looks very much like a copy/paste in which it doesn't say that the writer's are the public, and nor does it say who the publishers are, or that they are now defunct. So, where is my plagiarism, and who would try sueing me when there is a publicly collected encyclopaedia plagiarised in www from 1884, and the notes are referenced to another published by a defunct Co almost fifty years after that in the www. And as a no-longer published encyclopaedia that is at least 85 years old, the notes I give without claim, to my reading public, can hardly be 'plagiarised.' So, apart from making me laugh, and annoying some of my readers, @steemcleaners are making asses of themselves, and showing themselves as ignorant and arbitrary. 😉😂😇
Como haces spam?
spamming is not good
Wow! As a newbie i'v learnt a lot from this, thanks for the tutorial👍
You're very welcome
A good article for beginners .your writing skills are good. follow you for more tips
Thank you so much :)
Totally agree!
Thank you
Good Post! I hope you are reaching with it also some people who are doing those things and let them overthink their actions. Let's keep Steemit an enjoyable platform where it is fun and instructive to read and to communicate.
I hope it will reach out to those people too. If they want to grow their account, they should try to avoid the things listed above.
pretty amazing, like always. I like to read these kind of posts, and yours are straight to the point and very very informative, thanks @vaansteam
Thanks again Maria for always supporting my post. I hope you enjoying your day so far!
Thank you so much for posting "what not to do" tips.
It's always good to read these as a refresher every so often.
Your welcome, I hope it was useful!
Thanks for the tips. I'm a minnow and trying to get better. There are so many tags that are similar, how do I choose the best option from very similar relevant tags? I've seen some with just one post. Also, I've used tags (e.g."DNA") that haven't appeared in the list after I used them.
Just choose a tag that is related to what you're writing. For example, if you're a photographer you should photography, photos or anything related to your post. Hope that helps.
Nice post! Thanks for sharing great insights.
Your welcome!
Thank you again! :)
your welcome
I'm new to steemit and everything you said was great advice. Thanks a lot. But I still have problems with understanding how the wallet works. Your input could really help.
Are you talking about wallet for Steem?
yes
Hi @vannsteam. So glad I followed you. Thank you so much for taking time to write this. Will certainly resteem to benefit my friends and followers.
BTW, is there a link to learn more about Cheetah Bot? Curious to know about the penalties if any?
Cheers and God bless.
Cheetah bot doesn't really flag you just warn you of the similar content. you need to worry about steemcleaners. https://steemit.com/steemitabuse/@cheetah/cheetah-bot-explained
Thanks Vaan!
A post just at the right time. I post really good articles but get one or no votes. I think it's because of the tags, might be using the wrong tag on my post. I got to improve on that. And about not able to delete past after 7days... Wow i didn't know about that. i gotta be careful on what i post from now on. @vaansteam your post is really helpful. Thanks
That probably the reason why make sure you used a proper tag. Good luck to you!
Thank you very much for these useful advices, it's really important especially for the new users . and those who use Steemit just for earning.
this platform have more than earnings value, it MUST be used to help between each others.
i wish you more success and waiting for your new posts
Yes it should be used to help each other. Thank you for dropping by. Your support really means a lot.
@vaansteam this is a useful post. I learnt alot here
I'm very glad to hear that :)
really useful information. Thanks
Your welcome. Hope that helps.
Excellent friend, I will take into account each of them I am interested in growing in every way within this platform. regards
Best of luck to you. Wish you success on the platform!
You're so right with number 4. Some people here are really selfish and that doesn't take us anywhere.. This is a platform where we should give and receive.
We should learn to give and take. Being selfish is not the way.
thanks for the tips. 👍
your welcome!
