As I have detailed in my previous post Happily Scammed I got into crypto through a scam exchange. At the same time I gained some knowledge about crypto and moved some assets on to a legitimate exchange.
Banks do not want you to move money to an exchange. They have restrictions on how much can be moved, and they say it is in the name of safety for the client. In some cases maybe, but in my case it caused delays which cost me lots of gains that could have been obtained. I do not like banks.
Reading some crypto news I saw this article about Axie Infinity. It said something like "invest to earn" while you play. The key was that it was a game and that it had the earning aspect which I had been wanting to implement for many years. So I didn't get to implement it but I get to play it and so I went through the steps to get wallets going connected to the game and populated with coin. I bought 3 Axie to start with which cost about $150 at the time. The SLP coin was at about 0.013 in USD value. In my mind, at the time, earning anything was amazing.
This is a screen shot of my first team. I can post them here because I actually own those Axie (at the time of this posting) and it is required that you own them if you use pictures of them.
The team is really bad for PvP arena play. I had to purchase more to help get better in the arena, and I got a nice little collection. Part of the fun of Axie is the breeding aspect and I ended up producing many Axie.
During December of 2020 there was a "Land" event where players could try out what was called land play. This was a very preliminary test, and well if you do not have land, you can not play. So I bought a land in preparation for the event. During the event I decided it would be good to get another land. This enabled more recourses to be mined for crafting little items that were available. I thought I was crazy spending $900US on two land that only exist in the virtual world. One year later that was proven to be a very good spur of the moment purchase.
I played a lot of Axie PvP, and did "OK" but the time needed to get into the big time winning was not on the books as work is needed to pay bills. In the end I got a little burnt out on PvP and trying to figure out team combinations that would win. The income fed my breeding projects and so what I earned I kind of feed back into my holdings.
Then things got really crazy as I had so many Axie (200+) that I needed to do something with them. I did not want to sell, but wanted to keep them active.
This is when I decided to start an Axie scholarship. This part of the story is another post topic. It has been life changing for me to start a scholarship program and it deserves a separate post.
From scam to Gaming fun, strange how things work out
