Last year, I met with Dr. Nicole, a professor of political science at San Francisco State University, at one of the popular cafes in northern Iraq - Sulaymaniyah. We looked at a collection of photos that I had picked up during my stay in Sulaymaniyah. After drinking coffee , We decided to pursue a photography exhibition in California. We have been able to unify his thought
Kurdistan "with people of interest in UC Berkeley during the past seven months and have been able to make preparations for the exhibition. A few weeks before flying to California to work on the contest, I stopped at another cafe in Sulaymaniyah again. After chatting and enjoying coffee with Leah, director of sports activities at the American University of Iraq-Sulaymaniyah, and with Tania Mimaw, we talked about another project, an auction of "building Kurdistan" and giving the proceeds to a worthy local organizer, Solyon. Solion: It is an organization composed of a group of Iraqi artists and works beautifully. I first met this group when I came across a theater show in one of Sulaymaniyah Gardens last October. The show was about tolerance and racism and was one of the most interesting things I have seen since I came to Iraq. This group consists of approximately 45 members, the majority of whom are students of theater and visual arts in Sulaymaniyah or newly graduated from Iraqi universities in Sulaymaniyah. On February 4, Anna and Tania started the auction. The auction was attended by a group of teachers and staff from the American University in Iraq - Sulaymaniyah and members of the non-governmental organizations based in Sulaymaniyah. The auction lasted for almost two hours and took over $ 3,000, all of which went to Solion. I look forward to seeing what projects they have planned for this money.
