Art: manifestation of human activity through which a personal and disinterested vision is expressed, interpreting the real or imagined with plastic, linguistic or sound resources. The artists of painting, distinguished in history for their works of art, achieve mastery not only through study and practice. In their works, the stimulus to the subjective is underlying, since they use aesthetic expressions that are not part of the logical classification. Along with the technique used to apply colors, the holders of this gift demonstrate at first glance that their skill is in fact an exposed virtue.
The most famous paintings in the world are not necessarily the best paintings in the history of art, but those that have become cultural icons over time. They are popular images, easily recognizable, reproduced, honored and even parodied. I have decided to present in series the most famous works of art in the world, but sharing one at a time to prevent them from shining off each other, today I publish the first one:
The Guernica
One of Pablo Picasso's best-known paintings, painted in May and June 1937, whose title alludes to the bombing of Guernica on April 26 of that year during the Spanish Civil War, was commissioned by the General Director of Fine Arts, Josep Renau at the request of the Government of the Spanish Republic to be exhibited in the Spanish pavilion during the 1937 International Exhibition in Paris, in order to draw the public's attention to the Republican cause at the height of the war. The gray tones are explained by the fact that Picasso first heard about the bombing through the newspaper. It is said that in 1940 a German officer asked Picasso if he had done that. The painter replied, "No, it was you".
It was first exhibited to the public at the Casón del Buen Retiro, and then, since 1992, at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, where it is on permanent display.
