@juliakponsford @vachemorte @isaria do a lot of music videos, that i've seen lately.
As soon as someone figures out how to monetize them it will probably be for the best for everyone.
I would guess that turning them into MP4 format NFTs and trying to upload them to makersplace would be a good start.
I'm trying to talk to opensea to find out what their limits are. They say that their limits are not that high, and that they use webm format.
I would guess as long as your music videos are not NSFW and as long as you are alright with paying 15% of your sales to Makersplace, the easiest thing to do would be to make an account there, and then mint some of your videos, and then try to drive traffic to those videos and sell the 1/1 rare nfts of those videos.
As far as the coinbase commerce solution on shopify -- If you had something like a collection, or an extended feature for download, or a flash drive, something for someone to pay and download -- that might be an option. if you're trying to sell it in ETH or BTC.
If you're looking for USD - Gumroad is probably your best bet.
There's also Kickstarter to consider, depending on your ability to turn them into a coherent project.
Isaria is pretty prolific, and she does music videos as well. I could see her doing a thematic audio-video album on release on Kickstarter.
That project might look something like:
[Built up on HIVE for individual releases]
[NFT music videos on Makersplace for ETH]
[When thematic collection is complete, organize USD Campaign on Kickstarter, with bonus content documentary information.]
[Share Songs on Patreon / whatever platforms musicians use for music]
So maybe the final project is like a handful of music videos in a series, with some commentary, strung together into a narrated audio / visual performance, funded on three or four different platforms.
Theme could be as simple as political stuff that is trending on twitter, or could be totally abstract.
The degree of your success in the USD market might have to do with -- to the extent that you design your work for a specific audience in mind. I know that made a big difference for my comics -- [whatever I want] vs. [Alice in Wonderland Public Domain Erotic Graphic Novel]
When you make something, you need to make it and then tell a group of people about it, so it's easier to tell a group of people, if you have one in mind.
I'm just speculating, you'd have to figure it out.
I follow those 3 and really dig their work. Some true OG’s on this platform ;)
That is some excellent speculation. Those are some great ideas, I do bits and pieces of that like sharing on music platforms and whatnot, but bringing everything together into a cohesive whole that is made for a specific niche is a really great idea. I tend just to organize my work by what period of frantic Creative output it comes from.
I definitely need to check out patreon and kickstarter. My excuse for not going there has been not having a following to pitch my work to but tailoring a body of work to a group or idea makes that part a lot easier.
Thanks again, I’m taking notes and hopefully I can be up to speed to be able to get involved in this digital community gallery project you’re formulating =)
Excellent.
Yea, Kickstarter has its own native traffic sources, which is really incredible. It's made my business possible for the last 2 years, and introduced me to probably 450 people who have paid for my work in that time period.
Might be an over-estimate, but also might not be.
Most of them are one offs for $5 or $10, So that's probably about right.
Anyways - the game is like:
Cello Album with Music Video on Kickstarter =
[people who like cello loops and interesting visuals]
You might try a project like that out for a month, just to see who bites.
[Sad Cello for Donald Trump's Tears, where you have pepe trump weeping in music video series for album. -- Three parts Sad Donald + Rage Donald + Loser Donald.]
That one probably gets more $ than cello loops and interesting visuals.
you might try:
genre based work?
Like Vaporwave Cello?
I don't know.
You might try
Performance based work --
Like, "I will be creating interpretive cello work for people who perform X action on reddit"
You might try collaborative work - like joining up with those people or others who are making projects.
You might try something interesting and mythic.
Like, I heard this one cello loop person -- probably the only time I've ever heard it, and it was in a dark room, and it was this beautiful woman playing it, and the music sounded like sirens -- like the vibration of sirens passing through MY SOUL.
And I cried.
So, if you want to do something thematic like "Sirens" -- and you have a place where you can target people who like mermaids / sirens, and strings ambience, then that's cool.
You can also try original concept albums.
Like I'm really into Harold Budd, he's a pianist, and I listen to his albums and brian eno's albums on repeat.
All fucking day.
And it's awesome. So you could start making those sorts of albums, and then sell them to the ambient abstract music crowd.
You probably also already perform live and project your interesting stuff on the background.
.:.
Just idea dumping.
So if you mix and match:
Then that's like 6 different $ streams,
Some might be totally worthless, like soundcloud or in the beginning, patreon.
But others, like live performances, hive, and kickstarter projects might work really well.
You also might be a bold pioneer in the music video NFT thing.
.:.
Last idea here to share is a permacultural concept called Stacking Functions.
Basically you have
ONE PROJECT AT A TIME:
and then your project filters out through all of those mediums listed above.
So, your Pepe Trump project gets created, and blogged about on HIVE. $
Then NFTs. $
Then Live performance $ and Kickstarter $ and outreach at the same time.
Then thank you thank you thank you, follow me here on HIVE $ / Patreon $ .
Then, next project, do it again.
Think like monthly or quarterly cycle?
Yes! Really getting my gears turning. Thinking about making art this way, within a larger framework of context and distribution, is really interesting. Like merging art and chess and the merger is like a strategically planned dance with beautiful costumes and delicious snacks being served to the audience. And maybe a fountain.
Thank you for this inspiration. I think this is going to help me step up my game and probably make better art as well...
Cheers.

I bet he would collaborate with you on the project. He joined HIVE recently.
