Map out the size you want the head to be on your page with an initial circle, then place the vertical center line to keep your eyes/nose/mouth symmetrical and even on both sides, as well a line going horizontally to keep your eyes level.

Draw in your eyes leaving the length of one eye in between the two.

Add in the nose. To get distance correct look at the size of the shape the gap makes in your reference image and try your best to recreate it.

Now for the mouth leaving enough space in between mouth and nose for his mustache.

Then the Goatee

Now add in the shape the hoodie makes around the face taking in to consideration the shadow it leaves on the left side.

We now add in some of the details of the hoodie Notice the general shapes the hoodies shadows create and start creating their outlines

Do the same for the shadows of the face.

Start to add in your shading to the darkest areas first so we can gradually build up to the lightest points. This help to have the ability to add as much details as possible with in the gradient.

Cross hatch your lines in the opposite direction and smooth out.

The next few steps will the most tedious part. Just keep on increasing that B shade going darker and darker.

Start adding line weight to the top of your eyes. Don't do the same to the bottom as the lines there are much lighter in reference image.

Using a darker pencil about a 3B start by adding little circles in for the hairline.

Then make your little ticks for the goatee mustache and eyebrow area.

Add the rest of the secondary level shading to the face.

Hone in your contrast by continuing to darken the areas you have already distinguished for final product!
