The Search for The Internet Dwellers

Over the years I have been scanning the internet for images of the Internet Dwellers. One by one I found them some had full names. I was missing seven, eight and nine. I still could not find the name of the one I first encountered.

One day in the middle of my multi year search a new one showed up on the internet but it was number thirteen. Thirteen...I thought there were only twelve as recorded by the Five Colleges and Historic Deerfield Museum Consortium. (Below is number thirteen as seen in a German museum)

Internet Dweller: jwsg.thirteen.xulf

Based on my research I learned that there was a catalog of the show the Internet Dwellers were in and it could have a picture of them. I just realized that my local library had an interlibrary loan system. They could get a book from any library in the country. Libraries are so great.

Catalog for The Electronic Super Highway Travels with Nam June Paik with image of Global Encoder

The Electronic Super Highway Travels with Nam June Paik was sent to me from the Syracuse University Library. But it only had one Internet Dweller mpbdcg.ten.sspv 1994. But I noticed it was published by The Carl Solway Gallery.

Internet Dweller: mpbdcg.ten.sspv

But this gave me an idea. The Carl Solway Gallery was working with Paik to sell his works in the US and they helped with this traveling exhibition. I was able to contact Carl, asking for pictures of all The Internet Dwellers. He quickly responded with the name of Mark Patsfall of Clay Street Press.

In part 7 I find the remaining Internet Dwellers or do I?
