Hie Hie no Mi is a Logia Fruit Devil that allows users to create, control, and transform into ice elements. Its name comes from the Japanese word "hie hie", which means "cold". The fruit is eaten by Kuzan, better known as the former Admiral Aokiji.
Strengths and Weaknesses
The main strength of this fruit is that it allows the user to transform himself, as well as his environment into ice. With a force that runs for a ten-day battle, powerful enough to permanently change the weather from half the island of Punk Hazard into a frozen island. It is interesting to note that this fruit is one of the few Logia that can be beaten with physical attacks. This is mainly because ice is a solid solid element and thus, users can not just pass the attack as most Logia users can. However, most of these attacks are still not effective against this ability because users can easily rearrange their ice bodies . On the other hand, Kuzan proved able to let Whitebeard's bisento attack just pass through his body and not be hurt like other Logia users. Kuzan also has an extreme amount of resistance to the cold because of its Devil Fruit element. That's because he is able to freeze his body parts and return to normal without tissue damage. Ice seems to be opposite to fire (natural enemies) when they clash, as seen against Mera Mera no Mi Portgas D. Ace. However, the ice seems also ineffective against the ability of the Whitebeard earthquake, because the freezing force of the quake man failed because ice was destroyed before effectively disabling the target; the vibration of the Gura Gura no Mi destroys the ice preventing Whitebeard from frozen. In addition, Akainu is able to dilute the ice produced by Kuzan in seconds. However, it should be noted that Kuzan was able to fight Sakazuki in a one-on-one fight for ten consecutive days (though not yet calculated by the use of Haki). Kuzan is also capable of traveling long distances and moving at high speed by turning his entire body into ice, as seen when he moved from his seat on an execution platform into the air to freeze two tsunamis created by Whitebeard. Most of these Devil Fruit attacks require Kuzan to contact his enemy directly to freeze them, but Kuzan finds ways like making ice spears to extend the range of combat. Kuzan is one of several Devil Fruit users who is able to ward off falling weakness into the water, as he can only freeze and create a solid ice on the surface to stand on, saving him from being drowned and drowned.
Use
The main use of this fruit's power, as shown by Kuzan is for battle. With the power to manipulate ice, Kuzan can make ice guns or freeze his opponents with physical contact. He can make enough ice to encase the giant , the Sea King or a few square miles of oceans in just moments . He was even able to freeze the tsunami created by Whitebeard, who is often praised as the strongest man in the world. The main combat style is to use the force of the ice to disable and paralyze the enemy, freezing their bodies into solids only by touching them, and threatening to destroy their fragile shapes, whether by touching them directly or with a pillar ice extension. The other main force is to create a spear gun of his opponents, to offset his direct contact if necessary. Another use that Kuzan demonstrates is for transport across the ocean. He can freeze a large area of
the ocean for others to cross, or create a small path of ice for him to ride on with his bike, Ao Chari. Kuzan is one of the few Devil Fruit users who have shown to adapt his power to travel over the sea .
Attack Technique
Ice Age The Ice Age technique froze the vast ocean in an instant and whatever is inside it. Ice Age (氷河 時代 (ア イ ス エ イ ジ) Aisu Eiji?): Literally meaning "Ice Age". An attack that is only used near the sea or a large area of
other water. Kuzan places his hands in the water and instantly freezes the large area of
water (along with anything inside) becomes completely solid. Clotting rates can reach areas miles away and ice can last for more than a week.
Ice Saber (ア イ ス サ ー ベ ル Aisu Sāberu?): Literally meaning "Ice Sword". Kuzan picked up some thin objects, like grass leaves and threw them into the air. He then blows on them with frozen cold breath so that they freeze into a jagged ice sword. Later, during the Marine Wars War proved Kuzan did not have to take a certain object to freeze the blade as seen when he stabbed Luffy.
Ice Time (ア イ ス タ イ ム Aisu Taimu?): Literally meaning "Ice Age". Kuzan touches his opponent's body, then freezes it into a human ice sculpture. They can remain alive in dormant form for some time in their cold prison, but any strong enough hit will break them to pieces. If the ice melts quickly and is treated cautiously, the victim can return back to normal without serious effects.
