Betta Variety By WellWildBetta Fish

Siamese Fighting Fish or Betta Splendens

commonly know as Betta Fish is one of the most popular fish-pets and it's native to Thailand.
It gets it's name from really aggressive attitude and will to fight to death to defend its' territory.

Betta fish fighting is to this day one of the most popular gambling sports in Thailand.
For this purpose wild bettas have been bred for over 600 years to develop even more aggressive variety.

While the popularity of the fish was increasing, some people started keeping it for it's exquisite looks and vibrant colors,
which started appearing in fish bred in captivity. Over time, look-related traits became more important than aggression and led to development of variety of colors and forms in this fish.

The number of possible variations has no boundaries, but even the most popular types are so numerous it's usually very trick to wrap your head around it.

Wow this is really great! I have 3 bettas (I had 4 but one passed away recently), and I absolutely LOVE them! I think they are the coolest fish, and I also think they are the most misunderstood. I keep mine in a minimum tank size of 2.5 gallons per fish, and I think they are much happier that way and also they will live a lot longer. Great post! I upvoted, resteemed, and followed you.
