We built a chicken house in a month!!!
There are still a lot of finishing touches we need for example putting a door handle on, and nailing up hardware fabric on the "windows". 
There is Sawyer and I chilling on the saw horse while daddy photographs the coop!
don't mind the overalls, that my daily attire while doing the chores
We have made a loose plan to run a gutter on the back of the house to create water supply and using the barrel on the right for a water catchment system. We will build some sort of a platform for the barrel to sit on. Eventually we would like to have water catchment on every roof on the property but we need to keep our lists of projects and chores manageable!
anyone who is building a homestead understands that!
There has also been talk of building an awning like structure off the front.
Then I will get to work painting it green with dark green trim to match the house.
I believe that things should be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Our plan for the flooring so far has been linoleum, but we are up for suggestions as far as that goes so feel free to leave a suggestion in the comment section. (:

what is your lighting and heat source plan? :) it would be more conducive for poultry to be extra productive
I have seen fixtures made from large terracotta planters with a heat bulb inside and turned upside down.
I've seen a similar set up with cinder blocks. Haven't thought deeply into it. Do you have recommendations?
that would actually be feasible.... the upside down heat bulbs...double purpose- heat and light

I'm excited to get the nesting boxes and roost in! I plan on doing little curtains on each nesting box!
It looks SO GOOD. I would suggest, since you guys get so much rain. (I realize you don't have chickens yet) but you do not want rain to get into the coop at all. So there will have to be some sort of awning or whatever to protect all that screened in space up top.

The picture up top is actually corogated plastic. The only screen will be on the windows! We've gotten i few storms and the inside stayed completely dry. Thank you, I did a very small portion of the work! Blake did most of it!
Oh good! Couldn't tell! You will want ventilation at the top portions of you don't have it already. The smells man, and the heat rises.
We plan on having the window open, and making a screen door! Hopefully that will be enough! It's a battle between rain or ventilation lol
Well that's true, but you will probably want to have some at the top. You could drill like 2 inch holes (covered with hardware cloth) at the top. Top ventilation is really important, if not the most. Of course, all up to you! You have all summer (go in there during hot and muggy days to make sure it's not too bad), fall, and winter to figure it out.
My chickens are idiots, to be honest. When it's hot, sometimes I catch them in the coop, panting and holding out their wings. Never really understand why they do that, it's kinda still air in there. I think I'll have to add more ventilation also.
