5-min Freewrite: This Boxer Borrowed Physical Energy

There was a distant village blessed with the gift of physical energy. The rumour of this gift spread far and near that people could only whisper about it.

The villagers traded this physical energy in exchange something for precious to the buyer. You could buy hours of strength or even days of endurance from this distant village, but only if you are able to pay the price.

It happened that Ethan, a struggling boxer past his prime, stumbles upon this marketplace after losing matches to younger opponents.

It seemed like a dream come true. So, he approached a mysterious vendor who offers him twelve hours of peak physical energy, enough to make him unstoppable in the ring.

In return, Ethan would experience twelve hours of exhaustion at random undisclosed times.

Ethan was so desperate to make a comeback that he took the deal. As expected, the results are phenomenal. His punches became sharper, and his movements became quicker. He began fighting like a man possessed, winning match after match. Spectators marveled at his ‘limitless’ physical energy.

But he must eventually pay the agreed price.

One moment, he would be training as usual. The next, his body would suddenly shut down with no warning. It could happen anywhere, even in the middle of a fight.

Ethan never knew when the exhaustion would hit or how long it would last. This put his career in jeopardy.
