Highschooler's Point of View: Marijuana

Marijuana is a drug. Coffee is also a drug. Sugar should be classified as a drug.

Marijuana should be treated like alcohol. Must be atleast 21, and do it at home. You are not allowed to be drunk in public, so you shouldn't be allowed to get high in public. You aren't allowed to drive under the influence because you can lose control and cause injury to others. If you got high and drove it would be just like drunk driving.

According to Healthline.com "Last month a high school senior in Ohio drove off the road on the way home from prom, striking two utility poles and killing his passenger, 17-year-old Lindsey Rotuno.The Ohio Highway Patrol eventually confirmed that driver Chase Johnson, 18, had marijuana in his system".

Marijuana laws should be like alcohol laws. Driving while high is equal to driving drunk.

At my school there have been people who get caught smoking weed and such. Whoever sells them the weed should be arrested. They are selling to minors and people under the age of 21.

Reasons why kids at my highschool are smoking weed? I believe it is because they are trying to fit in with others. Some might be dealing with lots of stress so they just smoke to create an illusion or facade of reality. Others want to fit in with the "Popular" kids. Some are just peer pressured. Someone gave me insider information that it costs 20 dollars for 4 or 5 smokes. Pretty costly keeping in mind that the kids are probably not even making money.

You should be allowed to smoke weed and drink alcohol, but you should be responsible. No driving. Not in public. Not with minors. Just use your brain. It should be common knowledge. Thats just what I think, as a highschooler.
