Why Splinterlands is Better than Magic: the Gathering Arena

I have been playing Magic the Gathering since 1994 and Magic the Gathering Arena since 2017 and have quit playing in favor of playing Splinterlands.

Here are a few reasons why I think Splinterlands is better than than Magic: the Gathering Arena.

1) Play to Earn - Sure, playing Magic: the Gathering Arena gains you in-game currency but it is not convertible to real money. Splinterlands earns you Dark Energy Crystals and Splintershards which you can exchange for actual dollars.

2) Trading and Renting - Once Magic: the Gathering made Arena, the collectibility aspect was still there but the trading aspect of the game was lost. You could dust your cards to create other cards but you could not buy, sell or trade them.

3) Simplicity - Splinterlands is very simple to learn while Magic the Gathering takes a long time due to the game having so many rules and rule changes. Furthermore, there are only at most seven slots to worry about - one summoner slot and six monster slots. You don't have dozens to a hundred creature tokens to worry about or half a dozen enhcantment cards on one creature.

4) Every Card is Unique - Since Magic has been around since 1993, Wizards of the Coast has at times run out of ideas and is recycling cards by simply changing their names. A card like Llanowar Elves and Fyndhorn Elves are the exact same card but with a different name.

Splinterlands have cards that are similar to each other but none that are identical.

5) Renting - If you do not have the time or money, there is no way to gain access to the game's most powerful cards. Splinterlands gives people who have a small collection or not much money the chance to play with powerful cards via the rental market. This also helps large collectors earn passive income. This is a win-win for both parties.
