The fact that these are framed as "weaknesses" belie the teacher's bias, whether that be in favour of centralisation or simple presentism (judging the past by the standards of the present), and is a microcosmic example of the severe problem with the way that history is taught even if the curriculum isn't a giant lie by omission. I could rant endlessly on the way that history has been misrepresented for nefarious purposes, in fact I already have, but I'd rather not take up too much space.
