BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! - Armored Up Ruleset

Hi Guys! In this post we are exploring on another Splinterlands ruleset. The ruleset we are focusing on this time round is Armored Up.

In an Armored Up ruleset, all monsters are given an extra 2 armor. This is especially good for monsters with high attack and low defense stats.

Lets take a look at a Wild ranked match with Armored Up as one of the ruleset. The battle restrictions are:
Armored Up plus Melee Mayhem with a max mana limit of 38. Fire, Water, Life and Death Splinters are allowed in this battle. The Video for the Full Battle can be seen here:

Battle Lineup:

My opponent unfortunately surprisingly went with a Water lineup as well except it was a ranged lineup instead with Shieldbearer as the main tank. Shieldbearer is good but it cannot withstand long if there isn't any support unit to repair or heal it. Let see how the battle progressed.

End of Round 1:

We both lost our tank by the end of round 1 but I lost a 2 mana tank while my opponent tank was a 8 mana tank. My Vulguine and Jared Scar also got stronger. No doubt I will win this battle at this point.

End of Round 2:

I lost my secondary tank in this round while not able to kill off the opponent's 2nd tank. Reason being the opponent's Chaos Knight is more defensive and has the Shield ability. The +2 Armor from Armored Up ruleset also made Chaos Knight much harder to kill because of its Shield ability. Nonetheless, the Chaos Knight is down to its last health point while my DPS units at the back is still getting stronger. Vulguine now has 5 health points.

End of Round 3:

3 enemy units were taken out this round. Chaos Knight was very quickly dispatched off as it is only left with 1 health point. The enemy main DPS, Pelacor Arbalest, also died from my sneak attack. At this point it is game over for my opponent.

KEY STRATEGY
My strategy was to use a full melee lineup with full of DPS to make use of the Melee Mayhem and Armored Up ruleset. The Armored Up ruleset would help me with the defense while my DPS units focus on attack.

SUMMARY
Armored Up is extremely useful for high damage units which usually have low health units and little to no armor in the first place. These units are favorite pickings for opposing Opportunity units. Giving them armor now allow them to survive the first hit so they have more time to dump their high damage back on their enemies. Armored Up is ineffective against Magic team though unless there is also a Void ruleset.

Special mention also for unit with Thorns. Armor gives them an extra chance to reflect melee damage back to whoever who tried to hit it with melee damage.
